You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

Is there any certain way to remove the driver's door panel

There's a few tools you'll need:
panel removal tool $7-$10 (forked)
if you have hand crank windows you'll also need a window crank removal tool
screw drivers - philips and small straight
Note pad and pen or pencil
zip lock plastic bag
May need:
socket set
allen and torx drivers

Use the note pad to make notes where everything goes.
Open the door all the way.
Use the straight screw driver to pop any small plastic covers off.
remove any screws that are holding the panel or arm rests or anything else attached to the door (this is where the socket, allen or torx drivers may come in handy)
put all the small part in the plastic bag (use more than one to keep things straight, if you need to.)
starting at the bottom back corner start gently pulling the panel, you'll soon find spots where it's sticking, here you'll find plastic panel attachment pins. Using your panel removal tool, slide it under the panel and find the panel pins, slide the tool around the pins and pry them loose, You may find an extra screw you missed or a few panel pin toward the center, remove as before.
The panel should now be hanging by where it clips over the window edge (if working indoors, putting the window down ahead of time helps here) gentle lift and pull the panel up and off where it's hanging.
All that's left is disconnecting any wires, there will be clips molded into the sides to hold them in place, gently lift the clip and disconnect them.
Your panel should be loose.
Reverse to reinstall.

Power window on driver side door sticks

Yes the door's rubber window guide becomes dry and needs to be lubricated with a special silicone lubricant, go to Napa and ask for this silicone lube then apply it to the grooves located around the inner perimiter of the door window frame, sometimes it is neccessary to remove the door panel to access the lower window guides, if you remove the door panel becareful when removing clips along the lower part of panel you can damage the panel using a screw driver the sell a tool for this it looks like a screwdriver with a Y shape at the end. If this doesn't remidy the problem you more than likely have a worn out window motor that needs replacement.

Trying to take off arm rest on right do to take off door panel.

i've done this twice. 1/2 the pain is getting the door panel off.
At the point where the arm rest meets the door panel by the door handle there will be a small section where a little light shines on the door handle. you need to put a small screw driver in behind the light an pry this gently away from the door panel. this will reveal a small bolt that must be removed.

Behind the door handle itself there is a small panel that must be pried off as well. you will see a slot on the front of this to stick your screw driver and again push in as you pry back this piece of plastic. this will reveal a screw that must be removed also. just below the door handle, you must also pry off the lock lever as it sits on a rod that work the mechanism to lock/unlock the door.

If you have electric windows, there is a slot in the mounting bracket that you can stick your screw driver in a little and pry this up and out as you must remove the window and lock wires to get the panel off.

Now, there are a series of plastic push clips around the bottom of the door panel. You should be able to stick your fingers between the door panel and the door to pull these away from the door. Don;t use a screw driver for this as you will prob tear the panel. When you get it away from the bottom, do a curl with the door panel from the bottom as it is clipped on the top by the window.

Also, search for "door panel removal on the 1999 Pontiac bonneville" and you may be able to get some pics.

hope this helped.

Oh forgot, good luck getting to the nuts that hold on the mirror. you need someone with small hands and some funky wrenches to reach them.

If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

My drivers side electric window won't work

Hi Hawkeye1973

The first thing you should do is swap the passenger switch in place of the drivers switch and then see if the window now works. If so then you need a new drivers side switch. It may be clicking but it may not be working.

If it still doesn't work then you need to get your hands on a volt meter and get back to me.

TULL FAMILY
You need to remove the drivers door panel and investigate the window mechanism, it sounds asthough its sticking.

Very best regards

Geordie
