Are you in snow conditions with this vehicle? There is a product call PB screwloose Its a spray and it will penetrate, Try spraying at the other end where the threads come out of the block. You can also shock the bolt by hitting the bolt head with a hammer carefully. Try using a breaker bar or add a cheater pipe to your ratchet, Bolts do get corroded and difficult alot of times. If it breaks off ,the broken bolt can be drilled and easy outed. Just dont give up.

My starter bolt keeps comming undone and my starter snaps and breaks how do i need to install the bolts and washers correctly so it stays tight

Your problem may be from not positioning the starter correctly in the hole on assembly. Make sure that the face of the starter is in the bell housing hole all the way and is not at an angle when tightened up. Use new spring washers under the nuts or heads of the bolts and tension to around 60 ft/lbs

How to replace starter on audiA6 1.8 petrol 2001 C5

If I understand it correctly, you are talking about the starter motor replacement. In that case here it is how you can do it. Hope this helps.
1) Remove the feed to the battery & remove the driver side (right hand drive) road wheel.
2) Remove the shroud around the drive shaft (held on with 3 Allen bolts)
3) Remove the two bolts holding the starter motor
4) From under the caricon1.png (once the underbody tray is removed) you can get your hand in to undo the support bracket and the two nuts holding the electrical connection. this is quite hard as the top nut is hard to get to. but because you have already undone the other retaining bolts you should be able to turn the motor to some degree.
5) Once all undone, a few grazed knuckles later an you should be able to wiggle/push/pull the starter motor out of the bell housingicon1.png.
6) you should now be able to slide this out through the wheel as the area is just big enough (with the drive shaft shroud removed) to do so.
7) In true Haynes manualstyleicon1.png - refitting is the reversal of removal - except be patient when trying to do up the electrical connections.

I have a 1999 pontiac montana van it is hard to crank i think its the starter and i need to learn how to change a starter

Disconnect the battery and raise the vehicle and support it. On the starter solenoid you'll find a big wire coming from the battery and a much smaller wire coming from the ignition. Those will have to be undone at some point some people like to remove the two bolts holding the starter first and undo connections after. Whatever is easier for you. Remove starter from vehicle check to see that the teeth on the flex plate are good and install new starter.

I have it undone, but when I try to remove the starter from where it is at, it will not move back far enough to get it out.

you'll need to remove the metal plate that bolts to the transmission. There are four bolts I think, and there may be to support bars that will need to be removed as well. As soon as it is removed the starter will drop straight down.

What is the easiest way to remove the starter off a 97 nissan pick-up? there is an incredible lack of clearance to access the part and of course the bolts are extremely difficult to reach.

your telling me there is,!!!,,when it was built all the engine was put in from the bottom of the car so you will need a long reach socket and an elbow joint to get the starter bolts undone,,,them *** guys are only small you see? it not an easy job but its not impossible (only just nearly impossible!)

No room to work or even see the bolts to take out

You'll need swivel sockets and racket extensions to angle in and around to get at the bolts. A terrible job for even professionals. Fully expect to see bloody bones where your knuckles used to be.

Can't get the starter out of a 1991 Nissan pickup.

The second bolt is hidden way up and tucked in near the solenoid. You need to setup a ratchet with extensions/socket (14mm) combination that is just a little longer than the starter motor. If you just can't picture where the bolt is, then go down to the parts store and look at/purchase the replacement starter to see how it mounts up.
There are two bolts for the starter mount and one nut for the main starter power lead. There is one plug for the starter key switch.
Disconnect plug. Loosen lower bolt. Remover upper bolt. Remove lower bolt. Twist starter so you can remove main power cable nut (be sure to have disconnected the battery first!) Pull starter.
