It could be right on the edge of having enough pressure to satisfy the low sensor to run. This will continue till a evac and refill of the correct amount of the system. The outside temps affect these pressures. Mark

2000 Avalon XLS air condition keeps cutting off

Could be low on freon or a relay / switch problem.
Could also be a problem with the ac clutch on the compressor.
You can check the freon charge first, or check the clutch for voltage when the system cuts off.

Air conditioning not working - light is flashing and it blows lukewarm air

Chances are you have a leak in the ac system. Look at the 1/2 inch steel lines under the hood. You will see a dark oily and usually dusty spot where these pipes make connections or bends. This is a good indicator of where your leak is at. If you can't see any obvious leaks. Make sure you have pressure in the system. You can do this by connection a set of pressure gauges. Autzone will let you use for a deposit. If you have pressure and no leaks look to your compressor. Hope this helps.

AC light blinks and compressor will not run. Freon

Could be bad AC clutch relay. Just replaced mine ($11 at autozone). It is located in the relay box just behind the battery.

94 geo prism-A/C stopped cooling-fan fine-green AC button not lit

I had the exact same problem with my 95 Geo. It was the AC Compressor, but before you go and get one there are other things you can check first just to be sure it is your compressor. I took it to a mechanic and he made sure that it was none of the fuses, then he hooked up the AC relay switch to the battery directly and you could hear the compressor switch on, that made the green light turn on again. It still wouldn't cool so he manually tried to turn the AC Compressor clutch and it wouldn't buge. So I went to the junkyard pick one up for about $100 and had it switched out. If I had the extra cash I would of paid double for the new one, but it was something I didn't budget for. It cools but not as great as the old one or a new one would.

A/c issue

Could be a couple things - one, if the fan switch for the AC condenser is not working, it'll keep the AC from kicking on, but that's usually seen by the compressor not coming on. When you activate the AC, do your RPM drop down at all? It should. If it does, the compressor is kicking on and you probably have a problem with the expansion valve, which is what flash chills the air. The car is pumping freon around but it's not cooling enough to cool the car. That's likely an expansion valve problem.

If you turn it on and the revs don't dip down momentarily, the compressor isn't coming on, and it could be the fan switch underhood or the AC relay.
