there is no main fuse in the camaros and by losing everything its telling me that you have probably blown a couple of the fusible links....they are in line in the wires themselves and look like a piece of black licorice nibs (hope you know what i mean) about an inch long and tubular if you cut out the link and strip the wires and strip them them re-connect them together you should restore the power.......these links are usually near the starter by the soilonoid in the group of wires connected to the big terminal....however i'm not sure how the backfire is related but that should restore the power to everything
hope this helps.........if not let me know ill keep your problem in mind til i hear from you again.....Good luck!

Your Car May have a fuel Pressure regulation Valve, take it to a shop and see if there is an easy way to check it to see if you are loseing the pressure you need to push the fuel through the lines.

SOURCE: 1992 Pace Arrow Motor Home 454 Chevy...not getting fuel to start

After you dump the fuel in the throttle body it will continue to run on its own or die as soon as it burns up all the fuel you dump in? Do you have access to (Noid lights)? Are both plugs attached to the distributor?

SOURCE: I have a 1987 Camaro Iroc Z28 5.0 engine. I'ts

If its a throttle body intake, and he put fuel into it and that made it start up, then its definitely a fuel delivery problem, so replace the pump, and the fuel filter. The pump is in the top of the gas tank, and you literally have to unbolt the rear end to drop the tank so you're much better off cutting a door under the carpet in the floor of the hatch and just making it into an easy access door for future ease.If its a tuned port injection motor (which a real iroc z should be) then you wouldn't be able to test it that way because the throttle body sits sideways so you must use a spray can of starter fluid, spray it in there, and then try to start it. If it will continue to start for a few seconds then it is the fuel pump for sure. remember though, replace the fuel filter too or it can take out your new pump too. Trust me, I've owned two third generation Camaro's. hope this helped. :)

i have seen this problem on many dodge motorhomes , does the air cleaner have the electric device on it? if it does i suggest reverting the engine back to the old style distributor that does not require it as those tend to go out and cause a lot of problems,it is a fairly easy solution if you are mechanicaly inclined and you wont see many problems with the electrical system of the engine afterwards.the hardest part of this solution is finding 1 of the older style distributors

could be the pickup coil in the distributor they go bad fairly often
pickup coil resistance should be 500 to 1500 ohms between the two leads.also move vac advance plate ohms should not change.there should be infinite ohms [no continuety] between either of the leads and ground

This is a good indication of a bad ignition control module. The module is located under the coil pack (where all of your spark plug wires come from) and may be testable. Auto Zone says they can't accurately test this part but it is $100 to replace it.

Have you checked that you have power to the coil on cranking? You may also want to check wether you have a good strong spark at the spark plug.It could be an ignition module breaking down.If you have no power to the coil you may need to change the ignition relay. Its close to the battery.
