What would cause 93 chevy c1500 rough idle smells of excess gas at exhaust

Does the truck seem fine when you first start it & then acts up when it reaches operating temp?
That would lead me to look at my oxygen sensor, a bad sensor can cause the truck to run "rich" which would explain the fuel smell in the exhaust.

Did a typical tune up cap rotor new wires and plugs ..problem is i had the wires on order i put the new plugs in and car ran great wires came put them on IN THE CORRECTR ORDER and it now doesnt even stay...

are you sure the wires are on correctly on the distributor cap? If it ran fine before you replaced the wires and doesn't after you replaced the wires than it has to be something you did with the wires?

sounds like it running to rich of a fuel mixture, the first thing i would do is replace the oxygen sensor and also make sure its not misfiring an any cylinder, start there, hope this helps.

I have a 2001 Polo GTI, which is drinking fuel

There are many possilities. Dirty air filter, fouled up spark plugs. Ignition system problems. Timing problem. Also maybe the thermostat is stucked open, causing the car to run below normal operating temperature which also cause it to burn more fuel. Also the fuel pressure regulator maybe defective.

Have similar problem, seems to be too much pressure build up in the gas tank, when you loosen the gas cap, there is pressurized air comes out. If I leave the cap loose, the car runs fine
