Possible coil pack which is a semi popular failed item on these vehicles....sometimes the pack will fire cold ,then break down hot. Another cause of failure is bad/open plug wires where the kv's have no where to go except right through the heart of that pack and to the easiest path to ground...check pink wires for 12v to the pack and if thats present you might need that puppy....good luck

Why wont my car start

If the engine is turning over and not starting there are many possibilities. If the engine will not crank over at all, then suspect a bad battery, bad battery positive or negative cables/connections, or a bad starter.

If the engine turns over but will not start the most common issues on this engine would be a failed ignition module, or coils, a bad fuel pump, or the engine timing has jumped. The fuel is simple to test if you have a fuel pressure gauge. If you don't you may need professional assistance at that point.

The ignition can be tested by removing the coil housing assembly from the top of the engine and using an old spark plug to check to see if you have spark. The side electrode must be grounded to the engine (this is critical). If there is no spark try all 4. If none of them spark you have a failed coil/ignition module, failed crankshaft position sensor or poor power or ground to the coil.

If you have fuel pressure and you have spark its time to bite the bullet and pull the spark plugs out of the engine to measure compression and leakdown. Compression typically ranges from 140 to 175 PSI on this engine. Measure all 4 cylinders, if all 4 are low, the engine has jumped time and the valves are likely damaged

Code po304 car wont start

cylinder 4 misfire ,now if this is a GM product then i think you may need a reconditioned ECU init as if this is the 4 cyl engine and its same as the opel astra and zafiro and the vectra then its a common fault with a 2000 to 2004/5 model the computer is bolted to the engine inlet manifold and very weak and susceptable

Engine has trouble firing. It turns over several times before finally firing or killing my battery. Already replaced the battery and alternator, starter seems ok. What next? Engine is 2.2L 4 cyl...

gmc put two sistems to the fuel pump 1 fuel pump relay 2 oil pressure sensor if the relay is bad it takes longer to start until oil pressure is buildup if the oil is too old or too tick or the oil pump is old not building enogh pressure all that together is very bad but depend how many miles on

Got a 2001 S-10 2.2L 4 cyl. Engine turns over,

Fuel pump is a good idea but wouldnt be the best place to start without troubleshooting first. HAve a fuel pressure test done. You may have a simple vacuum leak or maybe even a bad fuel pump relay. If those things check out then look to the pump.

When starting any fuel injected vehicle you DO NOT need to press the gas peddle. Once the ignition is turned on the fuel pump energizes and fuel is injected into the intake.

Car won't start

There is a recall on this model for problems with the Engine Control Module/Coil Pack. This causes the engine to not start. Take it to the nearest Saturn dealer and get it repaired free of charge. This problem can eventually burn up your catyletic converter which will lead to much more costly repairs. There are actually 3 recalls on this vehicle. Take it to the dealer and get it taken care of. It will be like driving a new car once the repairs have been made!
