  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the front blower motor resistor.
  3. Carefully slide a screwdriver behind the driver’s side of the resistor to press in the locking tang and pry the resistor from the housing.

Blower moter does not work on high

I have had to replace my blower motor relay on my 2003 Dodge Caravan twice. I think the blower resistor is is under the hood on the firewall.
But, the relay module is on the inside on the passenager side. Open the glove box. Then pull the hinge tabs so that the glove box door drops all of th eway down. Look into the opening and you will see the relay. The part was about $12 at Autozone and can be replaced in about 5 minutes.
My blower motor would only work on high both times. Quick, simple, easy and inexpensive repair. Once you see the module, you will be amazed at how easy this repair is. The hardest part is finding it behind your glove box.

A.c. switch for blower motor only works on high speed

This problem is caused by a defective part called the blower motor resistor. The resistor is bolted to the air ducting just next to the blower motor. You can watch a video of the whole job HERE.

I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan. The fan switch only works on high. Any solutions ?

terrypam92, It sounds to me like you have a blower motor resistor problem. When the resistor is burnt out the default for the system is to run on high only. You need to locate the resistor which is in the air box of your system. It is usually under the dash panel on the passenger side of the vehicle. (behind the glove box or near the firewall and very close to the blower motor itself) You are looking for a unit which has a four wire plug attached to it. Remove the unit (usually screws or
5.5 milimeter bolts) and replace and test the speeds before replacing anything else that has been removed. Good luck with this.

On my 2000 Dodge Caravan I went to switch on the heater fan and found that when I pushed the recycle air button, the button would not light up. Then there was the smell of burning rubber for a minute, and...

Your blower motor resistor has gone bad. It should be in the engine compartment on the bulkhead/firewall. When standing in front of the vehicle facing the engine, there will be a group of about 5 wires going into a black rectangular connector near the left strut tower. It will be on the flat metal firewall that separates the engine compartment from the passenger compartment. The black part is the connector and the rectangular part around it is the blower motor resistor. To disconnect it, you need to press down the tab at the top and pull outward. It may help to use a flat head screwdriver to help press down the tab. **Keep in mind that the connector is plastic and if broken, it may not be possible to reconnect it properly**. After you disconnect it, you will need to pull out the resistor. You can use a small screwdriver to push in and pry on the sides of the resistor with a twisting motion. It may take a good combination of wiggling, twisting, prying, and pulling. It may come easy or it may put up a fight, but eventually it should pop out.

Just about any major car part store should carry new blower motor resistors. It shouldn't cost more than $10 or so.

Installation is just the reverse of removal, but much easier.

Good luck, I hope this helps!

Need to replace ac/heater fan resistor I am not sure of the location does anyone know? Thank You

The Blower Motor Resistor is located on the passenger side firewall, not far from your A/C's H-Valve (or expansion valve), going inside of the vehicle. The blower motor resistor has a 4 or 5 way black connector plugged into it and this is the only visible portion of the Resistor you will see. Remove the wiring connector and remove the 2 or 3 screws with an 8 mm or 5/16" socket (8 mm and 5/16" are the same). Once the screws or fasteners are removed, just pull the blower motor resistor out of the firewall and if you look at it, it will have various coils of wire on it, sometimes it will show burnt coils, but you can always check the various coils with an Ohm-meter.

Aside from that, install the new Blower Motor Resistor and Voilà! Your inside Blower Motor should work just fine.

A brief note here, if your fan doesn't work when the fan switch is on High, then it's not the Blower Motor Resistor, but possibly the Blower Motor itself. Should this occur, please get back to me insofar as how to replace the blower motor and why the blower motor's wires have to be twisted...even with the new blower motor fan.

Best of Luck,

96 Dodge Caravan hv,ac motor only runs on high.

If you underneath the dashboard, behind the glove box, the a/c blower motor should be there inside a black case..turn the a/c on and off, and you should find out its exact location.. Now once you do that, the blower resistor should have a plug and two small screws on each side of it.. It should be close to the blower motor, if not on the side, maybe a little up and to the left of it...Goodluck...

Replace my blower resistor on my 1999 dodge caravan

Under hood up behind strut tower on firewall on passenger side. You'll see a connector attached to a 1-1/2"x 3" rectangular piece that is inserted inside firewall. Pull it to one side then pull out. You may have to play with it a bit, but it will come. Clips in behind it. If you buy the new one first, you'll see the clips that are on other side of firewall in hole.
