If you are not getting spark to some plugs, either coil packs are bad or plug wires are bad. Most likely coil packs are bad

Change the spark plug wires with good replacements, possibly replace the distributor cap.

How do I fix cod po301

Hello Carlos,
It is a common problem with '99 Cady (Random Misfire Detected)
  • Start the car and carefully pull the plugs boot out one by one, and put it right back (a few seconds is enough).
  • Take Notice of of which one is affecting the RPM of the engine ( slowing down and and shaking erratically).
  • With the engine Off.
  • Use the appropriate socket and again one by one take out the spark plugs and check them for oil and heavy residue build up.
  • If there is Oil in anyone of plugs, take the car to mechanic and let him or her do an evaluation or diagnostic.
  • You probably need new coil packs and spark plugs.
  • Change the oil and the air filter too, if they are dirty.
  • Check also the fuel filter.
  • If the code does not go away by itself, have it reset by a mechanic.
Best of Luck,
JP

2001 cherokee # 5 misfire..switched spart plug with another cylander still # 5 changed coil and injector didnt fix problem..HELP

Did you put a "noid" light on the injector connector to ensure it's getting the pulse to open? Do you know that you are getting spark at the plug? The HV could be leaking out of the cable or connector(s). Finally, if all that's good you may need to do a compression test.

Misfire cilinder 6

I would go with the obvious first... #6 c.o.p. (coil over plug),while your there change the plug :) the c.o.p. have a really bad track record. Then go after the lean situation.

The numbers to the cylinders are on the coil packs. Standing on the passenger side of the car looking at the engine, the right side is 1, 3, 5 cylinders. On the left is 2, 4, 6 cylinders. Put the correct number cylinder plug wire on the correct number coil pack. The 1,3,5 cylinder plug wires will go on the right side of the coil pack, and the 2,4,6 will go on the left. They will not be in order on the coil pack, so double check the cylinder number.

If your coils/wires are on the correct cylinders then, with the truck running unplug your alternator if the truck runs smooth then you have a short inside the alternator causing change in electrical current, if this is case replace alternator.

No spart from coil

If the coil has no spark, the coil pack is most likely bad. In order for you plugs to fire off, it has to receive spark from some type of coil.
