1st, Confirm that the distributor rotor is getting spun by removing the distributor cap and watching it while someone cranks the engine a couple of turns.
If it isn't turning, you've got major internal engine problems (timing belt or chain broken, etc.).
If it IS turning, you may still have major problems... distributor jumped a tooth or teeth or the pin that holds the gear to the distributor shaft may have sheared.
If the rotor turns and is in the correct position for Top Dead Center for cylinder one, then you might have something as simple as a severe vacuum leak from a bad hose... something HIGHLY likely in a vehicle this age.

1988 GMC pickup 4x4 350 engine its hard starting and will not idle i gave it a full tune up even a new fuel filter ive checked and changed all sencors on the motor

Do a compression test. The pistons and rings may not seal enough anymore. Try push-starting it in 2nd gear. When you push it ,it will turn the engine faster and build up more compression, enabling combustion to take place. Aslso check if the fuel pressure regulator is not leaking through the vacuum hose, causing it to flood.

I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy with a 4.3L. The car is hard to start after it sits for the day. I found an oxidized distributer. I sanded the posts and it ran fine for about a month. I then replaced the...

moisture in your cap causes oxidation. You should check to make sure the seal for you distributor between the distributor and the cap is still good. Also a faulty ignition system such as a problematic coil or high resistance in your ignition wires can lead to ignition related problems. Doing a partial tune doesn't always work. Do the wires, plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, PVC valve and depending on the mileage the ignition coil.

94 isuzu trooper when it rains the truck stalls, loses power and turns off. drys out for a day or two then is fine if not raining

Well you can try taking a spray bottle full of water and spraying lightly all around the plug wires plus the cap and coil area.Do this after dark and look for any sparks jumping.More than likely you have plug wires than need replacing or you are getting moisture under your distributer cap.

94 Toyota Camry 2.2 liter Start problem

Rule 1 ....WD40 is non-flammable. It used to be an effective starter spray for diesels. Unfortunately it now contains a fire retardant to prevent accidents....so the rev you were looking for wont arrive.
It does work well with easy-start/ether though.
I suspect you found a vacuum leak and sucked WD40 into the intake....If u think u did you'll need to clean your plugs.
A strobe lamp to check the spark would be a good idea. Also if a lil squirt (VERY LITTLE) of easy start doesnt produce at least a backfire, your spark is out.

Won't start-1989 isuzu spacecab-pickup-2.6

Did you sync up the engine properly when you reinstalled the timing belt/chain? It is possible to be on the marks and be 180 degrees off. Align the timing mark on the crankshaft then check the rotor position. If it doesn't point to number one wire terminal position roll the engine over until the crank lines up to the timing mark again. The distributer needs to be pointing the wire terminal that goes to number cylinder.Any other position is unacceptable and you can't simply turn the distributer to number one either You need to retime the crankshaft to the camshft making sure that the distrubitor points to number one and both valves for number one cylinder are completely closed.
