With the key in the start position move the gear leaver through its full range , If the starter tries to engage the switch needs adjustment . If no engagement the wiring or the starter is at fault.

You need to adjust the park neutral saftey switch. the problem you are having is the truck thinks the it is not in Park so the truck will not start unless it is all the way in park. Take the keu turn half way and move shifter to neutral and see if it starts. Then I cam tell you how to adjust it.
sounds like you have a throw out bearing out. Put in neautral and depress pedal while idleing if noise starts its throw out bearing in clutch if noise is there when clutch is out in neautral its probly front trans bearing either involves removeing transmission and replaceing clutch assy or front bearing
Sounds like the shifter linkage needs adjusted. There is a neutral saftey switch that prevents the car from being started in any foward or reverse gear. If the shifter linkage is out of adjustment, the neutral safety switch will give you starting problems.
Your neutral saftey switch is broken. This is the switch that ensures the car is either in park or neutral when you start it. The switch for the park is worn out.
your car has a broken or faulty neutral switch.
the neutral switch is located under you gear desplay next to the gear shift (t-bar).
the job of the neautral switch is to prevent the car from starting in a drive or a revearse gear which would allow the car to move.
it is a saftey precaution for the driver
hope i could help fix the problem and explain why it is a problem
