Newer cars dont have dip sticks.the is a filler cap there instead.most the new cars have to put on lift.level.there is drip plug on transmission has to be remove while car is on lift idling.if no drip you add tranny fluid.fast drip.you have too much fluid.if you get a slow drip your fluid level is good.place drip plug back in transmission.lower the car.

Where to put transmission fluid

You should always refer to your owners manual to determine where to service your specific transmission from. If no manual is available, you should check with your dealership prior to servicing your transmission with fluid. Generally speaking, most vehicles are serviced through the transmission dipstick. The procedure for checking transmission fluid level varies by vehicle, but should always be taken after the engine and transmission are brought to normal operating temperatures and while running. Overfilling the transmission is equally as bad as underfilling.

Is it a Manual Transmission? Most manual transmissions don't have one.

What kind of transmission fluid do you put in a manual 1996 saturn sl model?

You put gear oil in a manual transmission, not automatic transmission fluid. Look in your owners manual for the proper weight, or ask the guys behind the counter at a parts store.

check transmission fluid level could be low.if transmission fluid level okay and fluid and filter been changed every 21000 miles.code scan for transmission fault codes like faulty transmission range sensor.faulty transmission fluid pressure solenoid, look for faulty torque converter code or faulty tcm. if you see no fault codes.either transmission manual shift linkage loose or broken or you have internal transmission damaged.

I have a 1992 nissan d21 pick-up 4WD, 6 CYCLINDER and am trying to add gear lubricant so it will stop slipping how do i do that

I am not sure if you mean transmission fluid, or gear oil. I will assume that you mean transmission fluid, since the level of gear oil in a manual would not affect the transmissions pulling ability. You will want to make sure that when you put the fluid/oil in the transmission that it will not cause it to be over full, so if needed you will have to drain out some fluid/oil before you add the new fluid/oil. In the automatic version there is a dipstick on the passenger side and you can fill the transmission there, and if for some reason you are referring to the manual transmission, there is a bolt that unscrews out of the side of the manual transmission, and that is where you fill it.

Where do you put transmission fluid in on a Mercury Mystique 5 speed V-6?

The fluid on a manual transmission is normally put in a fill hole on the transmission housing. CAUTION: be sure you locate the correct fluid for the vehicle most manual transmission vehicles do not take standard trans fluid.

Car makes a loud noise and jerks when I try to put it in a gear.

we might need to know if this is the car's 1st transmission and how many miles are on it --- but tansmissions that make noise and **** when put into gear are transmissions that are low on transmission fluid or have burnt (old) fluid - check your transmission fluid level using the transmission fluid dipstick (its location should be in the car's owners' manual).
If fluid looks dark (significantly darker than new fluid from the bottle), then drain &fill tranny.
If fluid is just low, fill tranny and monitor level for continued leakage.
A word of caution: keep on top of the tranny's fluid level - running on a dry transmission is a really good way to put a 94 Cutlass into the junkyard before its time.

How do i put fluid in the transmission there is no

On the passenger side of the transmission, there is a fill plug and a drain plug. The fill will be the upper plug and it's the one you use to check to make sure you have the right amount of transmission fluid in your transmission. Manual Transmission, NV3500..........2 liters Manual Transmission, NV1500..........2.7 liters

Undo the plug with a wrench and if the transmission trickles out, your good to go. If there is no fluid trickling out, top it off and place the plug back in and tighten to (Manual Transmission NV1500 Fill Plug 17 ft/lbs) or (Manual Transmission NV3500 Fill Plug 44 ft/lbs)
Thank you for using fixya and be safe. Drain Plug 44 ft/lbs Drain Plug 27 ft/lbs

How do you put in transmission fluid?

Unfortunately, you have a closed system transmission, there is no dipstick or filler tube. I have a 96 passport and to have fluid replaced in the transmission you need to take it to a garage that is equipped to fill closed transmissions. This generally runs about $100.00 at the dealership. I was on my way to get my transmission serviced when the trans broke. Don't wait long if you're having issues.
