Question about 1991 Lincoln Continental

1 Answer

I am also having the problem of my 91 Lincoln Continental accelerating completely on its own up to 50 miles an hour!!! It resists braking, and when I come to a stop and try putting it in neutral or park, it seems to rev even higher. It does seem to be FORD problem, and any mechanic that tells me its my cruise control is either a **** or thinks I am one.

Does it only do it when you use cruise control?
if so you may have a bad cruise release switch on the brake pedal...if not you may have a broken return cable spring on the throttle body or its binding

Replace brake light switch on 1995 lincoln continental and how long to replace

Remove the under dash panel.

Locate the brake light switch assembly near the top of the brake pedal and disconnect the switch from the brake pedal by removing the retaining clip.

Use a small screwdriver to unlock the electrical connector, then unplug the connector from the brake light switch.

Reverse for installation. Should take an hour or less to complete.

Need to know what antifreeze to use in 2002 Lincoln Continental?

Dexcool, a 50/50 mix, is very good for aluminum engines and can be left in for 100,000 miles. I use in in a Lincoln that has 235,000 miles.

Check your brake pads and rotors, if the grinding sound is more obvious when you brake, the pads are gone and it's iron against iron.
