Question about 2001 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

Ford Expedition Climate Control Issues I have a 2001 Eddie Bauer Expedition and for the past year, I?ve been having trouble with the climate control. There are really two areas of trouble that are completely different. First, and this issue started first, the AC or heat will turn on without provocation. It will just turn on to auto heat or auto AC without having had any of the buttons touched. From what I can see, there are no reproducible conditions that I can replicate to make it happen. It just happens when it wants. Second, occasionally when either the AC, heat or defrost is used the dash fans will not turn on. I can get hot or cold air out of the rear vents, but nothing out of the front. The only thing I can say about when this happens is that it appears to occur when it rains out, but not every time. This issue is particularly concerning because in New England, you don?t want to be without defrost in the winter for too long. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

It's on the side of the transmission under the drivers door. The shift cable runs to the control arm it is under.

I think you should go for manual first after that it would be easy for you to solve your problem. I had visited this site past 2 months before for my vehicle and find it quite helpful may be you will also get something useful here

I found this wiring schematic at: http://www.f150online.com/forums/articles-how-tos/385953-replace-04-08-fan-blower-motor-resistor-emtc-hvac-3.html
It looks like it is located under the dash on the passenger side, and appears to be pretty close to the blower motor. The resistor or controller is different if you have a climate control system vs. a manual temperature control.
Here is a possible picture of the climate control module:

An odor is coming on when I start my Ford expedition 2010 eddie bauer . It is just when I turn on the engine and start driving. The fumes are giving me a headache. I called my dealer and said...

from my experience, that is the smell of gasoline poorly burning at start up. getting into the cab that badly means that the climate control is sucking in fumes from the engine area, incredible this being a 2010. there also may be a leak at the heater core that warms up the cabin, basically coolant fluid fumes . definatly a warranty claim, something is very wrong here. pursue this with ford. battery leakage is total nonesense.

I have a 97 eddie bauer expedition how do i know if my blend door is the problem or the actuator i can turn the climate control knob to heat but when i turn it back to cold it stays on heat.

It is difficult to see the temperature door, try looking where the temp actuator is lower center of evap. case.(white) The door is black and on top of the actuator. Look for cracks and see if the actuator is moving. If it moves it is the door.

Location of Shift Solenoid in 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer?

They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.

Diagram bypass heater cord on 2001 ford expedition eddie bauer

the heater bypass is quite simple, if you look at the firewall you will see two medium sized coolant lines, remove them from the firewall and link them together using a proper sized tube, you can purchase a kit at a parts store quite cheaply
