My Echo use to do the same thing until my dad actually loosened the bolts holding the alternator, and moved it, stretching the belt. Now, no more squeeling when I first turn the car on, when it idles, or when I turn the A/C on.

Replace ac pulley bearings or grease them if not that take all belts off see what pulley is harder to turn by hand and replace but you dont try turn crank pulley i think ac compressor bearings are going or pulleys not alined

What happens if the drive belt breaks

if a drive belt breaks, the debris can interfere with other engine components and do additional damage. rule of thumb belt life is 6yrs or 60000 miles. the belts operate critical engine systems ( alt, water pump, power steering pump) not something to short cut on. belts are noisey when cold due to additional load from battery use when starting or cold fuuids. have belts and tensioners checked for wear and correct operation

How do I stop my v-belt from making squeeling noises on my Toyota Echo 2004.

Squealing is usually an indication of belt wear. Check the underside of the belt for worn or "shiny" spots. If it's worn it's slipping and is most likely not only the cause of the squeal but could impact the charging and cooling systems.
If the belt is in good shape and/or has been replaced recently, it may just need to be tightened. All new belts develop some play after initial installation after they have "broken in". If the belt is in good shape and is tight, the problem most likely lies elsewhere (bad bearing in waterpump or power steering pump, or alternator) I hope you found this post helpful. Best of luck! Sounds Like its Time for Serpintine Belt, I Recomend "GATORBACK BELTS" < By GOODYEAR they Are more Expensive But have A Much LONGER "NO SQUEEL" Life Compaired to The Average Belts.
So just Have It / THEM Replacd. Hoping this Helps!

Can't change power steering belt on 2001 toyota echo

take a look some pullies are spring loaded and it may require a ( not recommend unless stuck) but a pry bar. if spring loaded is the case there should be a tool that you could rent that is use for prying the pulley.

Note: make sure to release slowly so not to damage pulley.

Toyota Echo 2002 A.C. and Serp Belt

Plug the connector back in & pull the AC fuse. You probably have the beginnings of a "locked up" compressor. The pulley will turn if the engine and the AC is off. When the compresser clutch is engaged, and the compressor is locking up, it will overheat & snap the serp belt.

I assume that the 7.5 amp fuse blew again, yes? If so, it looks like you may have a locked up A/C compresser, or too much freon in the system (if somebody tried to add some to make the A/C come on). If the compressor is locking up, the engine will turn slow, at least until the drive belt or the fuse fails.
