Why does my 1994 4runner shift out of overdrive and then back in when at cruising speeds? Just pops in and out by itself.

I believe the clutches inside your transmission are wore out and you will have to get it fixed or get another transmission.

Transmission engages but does not drive and makes a whineing noise when in park

Toyota 4 Runner has either auto transmission or manual transmission. If it is auto trans, it could be due to the following reasons:
1.Wrong grading and classification of transmission oil. (ATF Dexron II).
2. Clogged transmission filter. (Clean or replace)
3. Worn out clutch friction discs and pressure plates. (replace)
4. Broken fly wheel and/or torque converter. (replace)
5. Check transmission control knobs and switches for if they are at their actual position where they are supposed to be.

as long as it is the sae style of the one you pulled out. it should by all means. just make sure all the bell housing bolt holes line up with the engine and the driveline fits as well.
