got me trying to remember ?? i think its a big black thing with a round wiring connector or a round connector to plug the tester into as well as.And if my memory serves me well they are about 1000€ new unless you can find one in the scrapyard and i think some of them use the same one as a mercedes but dont quote me on this.Put a couple of these cars in the scrappers and never thought of taking off the modules ,just glad to get them out of the yard

Getting gas no spark. coil and power into the coil good. 1990 dodge dakota with a 3.9.

The coil, injectors, and fuel pump get power from the ASD relay. If you have power to the coil but no spark from the coil, have you checked the pickup in the distributor ?
The pickup sends a signal to the engine computer and the computer fires the coil.

2002 ford escort- replaced fuel pump, filter, fuel injector pressor sensor, plenty fuel getting to rail and car will not run.

Hello, You have serviced the fuel side of any potential problem. Have you checked for spark? You have some Relays on the Powerbox and one should be an Ignition Relay.

If the Ignition Relay is working, then you have Crankshaft and Camshaft sensors, as well as a PCM Relay. A defect in any of these parts can kill the spark as well as a bad coil.

You need to determine if the coil is getting 12 Volts when the key is in the RUN position. If the coil is getting 12 Volts you know that the Ignition Relay is working. You then need to see if the coil is good and firing. If the coil tests good, the triggers to fire, the Crankshaft and Camshaft sensors should be checked.

In some instances, an external timing belt can break and is overlooked because the belt shroud concealing the belt hides the broken belt. If the belt broke on the bottom the belt may remain loosely in place but not be connected to the drive gears. If the engine has an internal timing chain, then try to observe Camshaft movement through the oil fill in the valve cover.

I have a 1990 f150 351 windsor. i am getting fire and gas all the way into the fuel rail but it will not start. If i spray gas into it it will run until the gas is gone. can it be the injectors? if so can...

  • The EEC supplies power to the injectors. So you want to check the EEC relay and see if it is bad. This relay is brown and on the left side of the engine bay. The yellow wire and the red and green wire should have power to them. It's either the relay or a broken power feed wire in the harness. The red wire is the key wire to test for 12 volts with the key on.

1990 honda wont start or crank, the lights dont come on, head or inside the car

The distributor in the hondas has a function of also engaging the coil to create spark. No spark = no fire. Perhaps take a plug out, leave the lead on, hold it with INSULATED pliers against a solid metal part of the engine and get someone to crank the engine over.

If the plug sparks - coil and firing switch OK. If no spark, check coil first - remove main + feed lead from coil terminals and check on a meter for power with key on but NO motor cranking. No power = faulty distributor/firing switch. No other ideas sorry!

If it won't turn over you may want to check Battery cables for tightness and/or corrosion Starter solenoid Neutral or clutch safety switch
