Before changing or adding a fuel pump I would check for power getting to the pump connector. I believe this model has an inertia switch in the trunk which if for some reason got tripped it will break the power to the fuel pump not allowing it to come on (a safety device in case of an accident) also if you have an air ride leveling system which was common on these vehicles there is actually a fuel cut off switch inside the trunk area. You usually can access the plug-in to the fuel pump connector from the underside of the car without dropping the tank.

I would purchase and install an electric fuel pump or have one installed. Simple to install, attach to side of car, place in fuel ine and place black wire to battery, only problem, the pump starts pumping immediately when engine is turned on and in case of an accident, it will not shut off as long as the motor is running.

1999 chrysler 3.5 lhs fuel not going to injectors

Then your fuel pump is not working, or your fuel filter is blocked. You will probably have to check your fuel pump circuit if you have no fuel pressure in the fuel rail, where the injectors sit. There is a fuse for the pump, usually in the under hood fuse/relay block. That is probably also where the fuel pump relay is located. You should hear or feel this relay click when the ignition key is cycled from off to on. Also, when the key is turned to on, you should hear the fuel pump in the gas tank turn on for about 2 seconds. This will put the pressure in the gas in the fuel rail, for starting the engine. If you don't hear the pump turn on for that 2 second period, it is probably a bad fuel pump. But know the fuse is good first.

Car is turning over but wont start seems like gas problem

Listen for the 2 second hum or buzz from the gas tank, when you turn the key to on, not start. The pump should run for about 2 seconds to put pressure in the lines and up to the fuel rail. If you don't hear it, first check the fuel pump fuse, usually in the under hood fuse/relay center. Or you could check for fuel pressure at the testing port-shrader valve- on the fuel rail. If you punch the center valve down with a small screwdriver, gas should try to spurt out. If no pressure, the pump is bad or the wiring to it needs to be investigated. Power flows from the battery to the fuse to the fuel pump relay and then to the gas tank. The relay is turned on by the pcm and allows the relay to pass power on to the pump.

Many parts stores rent or loan fuel pressure gauges to check your fuel pressure. The correct pressure is critical for the injectors to work right. If the car won't start, check fuel pressure and check for spark. Usually gas or spark is the problem.

No Fuel Pressure

More likely the pump is not putting gas up to the engine's fuel rail.
With key on, not start, the pump should turn on for 2 seconds to put pressure in the line and fuel rail. Do you hear the buzz or hum from the tank with key on?
Did you put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail's test port (shraeder valve), and find no pressure with key on? If so, you will need to check into the pump operation (assuming the fuel filter is not clogged). A quick test is to pull off the gas tank electrical connector, find the fuel pump wire in the connector, and use a test light grounded to a metal frame or a voltmeter. Check for power on the fuel pump wire, while the engine is being cranked over. If power then, your new pump is not working. It could be the ground for the pump, so you need to check that. If no power to pump, engine cranking, then you will have to find the fuel pump relay under the hood, and check the wiring to it. There is also a fuel pump fuse-it may be under hood or in the instrument fuse panel-need to find and check it.
If the pump is working and the fuel filter is clean, you should have gas in the fuel rail (which supplies the injectors with fuel under pressure). I have not heard of a pressure regulator problem that could cause no pressure, but then...
Post back what you find, or with comments. Hope this has helped a little.

sounds like an electrical problem .pump isnt coming on .turn on key listen for fuel pump to come on for 10 seconds then shut off on its own. If you dont hear the pump then its probley fuel relay . next check wires are plugged into fuel pump. lots of cleaning ?? is the fuel rail screen plugged ???? disconnect before rail if the pump comes on next. turn on key check for fuel pumping out line .

Hello, Joey, thank you for the direct question. Here is an easier more accurate way to troubleshoot your problem, other than the one proposed.

If the fuel pump is in doubt, check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail on right side of the engine. With the key in the run position you should have about 40 PSI. If pressure is present, but low, check for a restricted fuel filter and voltage at the connector, on top of the fuel pump. You should have 12 volts there. A lot of times a bad ground will cause a drop in voltage. The pump will still run, but will be weak. You should be able access it from under the backseat.

Another area to inspect is the CAS. If the ECU does not receive a signal the engine is trying to start or is running, it will not fire the fuel pump.
I hope this info was helpful & good luck with the Talon.

Just shut off while driving normally will not restart. good voltage, starter works well, good crank over

if it sounds like it does not want to start at all, it is probably electrical in nature, and most commonly it is the crank sensor-check to see if you have fuel pressure , remove the beauty cover from the top of the engine, turn the key on and look at the top of the engine for the fuel rail (has a light green valve cap)-remove that cap and push the pin inside the valve (have a rag loosely placed over the valve when you do this so you don't get doused with fuel. If you have pressure, you have another issue, since the crank sensor has to work before the fuel rail and injectors are charged with fuel from the fuel pump. The pressure from the pump is significant (over 45 lbs per sq inch) so if it just spurts then dribbles out, I would plan on changing the crank sensor-not real difficult or expensive. It may be a sudden failure of the fuel pump, so check for blown fuses and under the hood, by the reservior tank is a power distribution center-remove the cover and swap out the fuel pump relay (you can tell which one it is by the chart on the inside/top of the cover) with one from the ABS system, or horn-if it starts up, your relay was bad, and they do wear out from heat.

With the ignition key turned on without trying to start the engine you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. That is how its primed to start. Upon starting the oil pressure reaches normal operations & the prime switch will cut off by the signal from the computer. Thus the engine still needs fuel to run so the computer switches on the fuel pump relay to provide the fuel to the engine. The prime switch is intergrated with the oil pressure switch. If you do not hear the fuel pump upon having the key on replace the oil pressure sensor

My 2000 chevy S10 wont start I changed the battery and it ran fine for 2 days now it will turn over but won't start

Check Fuel Pressure. First turn key to on position (without starting) and listen for the fuel pump motor. If no motor sound, your fuel pump is not working. Check fuel pump fuse and relay. If fuel pump works, check for pressure at the fuel rail (schrader valve on fuel rail for pressure testing). If no pressure, or not enough, fuel filter might be clogged or fuel pressure regulator may not be working properly. IF fuel is not the problem, start checking electrical, such as ignition control and proper spark to plugs.
