Question about Dodge Durango

2 Answers

Hello I have an 03 Dodge Durango 4.7/ 4x4/ automatic. I would like add dual exhaust and take off the cat. coverter. The dealer tells me I can't take off the cat, as that would confuse the computer. All of the sensors are in front of it, I don't understand why. Can someone tell me please, if this is a fact, or just dealer wanting to keep everthing stock?

Yeah, almost everything is against law now days. I guess if I get caught with my two ford pickups with headers no cats and performance chips on, I go to jail, and the murders and rapists still go free.
But thank you anyway, I did assume as much, as I noticed the computer on this Durango is delicate as a baby ****.

Its against the law,to run with out the converter, you can have duals put on but you have to keep, the cat on.And yes the computer is program to read off these sensors, you can have them install a Y system, keep the cat and just have two mufflers.

My 1998 dodge durango slt wont drive past 40 miles an hour

Hello Jeff Winner,

Over the last 20 years ... cars have has a LIMITED OPERATION FEATURE added... When the engine READS something that is not IMMEDIATELY catastrophic... it will allow you to
LIMP home... rather than a complete shut down.

Limp mode:
You SHOULD also have a CHECK ENGINE light... (?)

My best advice is to limp on down to your near-by FREE code reading shop... and have a READER tell you what CODES are registered...

A blocked exhaust system will also seriously SLOW your progress
((soon to stop all-together)).

Hope this helps

Check you exhaust prices BEFORE you go...!!

2001 dodge durango downstream oxygen sensors the same left and right

No, the oxygen (O2) sensors are slightly different. Chrysler/Dodge issues different part numbers for each downstream position & so do the aftermarket parts suppliers. If you're going to buy aftermarket O2 sensors, I strongly recommend that you avoid buying "universal", go for the OE style direct fit.

You'll need to know if your Durango is equipped with California emissions before you shop for O2 sensors. Call the parts dept at your local Dodge dealer, feed them your VIN; based on the VIN, they'll be able to tell you if your Durango is equipped with CA emissions and then you can shop accordingly.

P0137 and u1120

P0137 -o2 sensor circuit low voltage [bank 1 sensor 2] sensor is located after cat converter--- possible faulty sensor/broken -damaged-disconnected sensor circuit wiring / plugged cat converter / exhaust leak by sensor --- the U1120 is an undefined enhanced manufactures specific code --wheel distance message --the PCM doesnt receive a vehicle speed message from the anti-lock brake module over the CAN C bus -possible CAN C bus circuit open or shorted / anti-lock brake module damaged or defective / PCM problem notify a dealer may be a recall or a service bulletin on the problem the code seems to pop up on the durangos also might get lucky and be covered under warranty

Just put new cats on 2002 5.9L dodge durango and

P0155 - 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

if you aren't getting the corresponding bank 1 sensor 1 code, P0135, you may have gotten the wrong O2 sensor, or perhaps it is defective? There is the chance that if you put some anti-seize on the O2 sensor threads or on the exhaust threads that you may have gotten something on the sensor itself clogging it up....

I believe sensor 1 is pre catalytic converter, but this code refers to the internal heater in the O2 sensor... so if all else fails, you may just have to buy or exchange for another and see if it helps your problem
