About 1000 to rebuild it and about 1500 to replace it. Can you describe more what it's doing, it might be a simple repair. Have to checked the T.V adjustment. What gear slips

I need to know if the transmission from a 1998-2002 pontiac firebird transam will bolt on and work on my 1995 pontiac firebird trans am?

You have to know the motor bell housing bolt pattern

Even if it bolts up, it won't work

1995 is OBD1 & 1996 on is OBD 2

I would never replace one failed trans with another used one,
that won't work,it will just slip or fail & be of no use to you

Pull your trans & take to a trans shop

That is called an over the counter & your get a good price to
rebuild it,maybe even wholesale ,since they don't have to R&R
the trans or diagnose anything

I was driving my 1989 firebird and allof a sudden it would not shift out of first, all was normal be fore that. Every thing looks normal.

Some transmissions have a limp home mode which locks the transmission into a low gear to get them to a garage or home if home is not too far away.
You may find that there is a fault in your transmission, if there is you should take it to an auto trans workshop and have it checked

1987 pontiac firebird, does anyone know how to fix dash lights.?

you have to take out the gauges, they will be on the back. In some cases you have to take apart most of the dash to get the instrument panel out, sometimes you can just take the trim off the instrument panel. I had to take apart most of my dash in my 86.

Question regarding 1987 pontiac firebird 2.8 litre V6. I followed the fuel line from the tank, made sure the filter was clean and followed it through right up until the manifold and undone the fuel line,...

Yes that is normal, as your fuel pump will cycle to "charge" the lines with pressure. Make sure you have spark. Also, if you can, plug a noid light into the injector harness to see if it's pulsing as it should while turning over.

Starting from the stop sign tonight I gave the car gas and the tranmission didn't respond for a few seconds then kicked in. Noticed after that then when stopping the car when the car shifted into gear I...

Your transmission is slipping, a common problem with higher mileage cars, and an even more common problem in cars that people beat up, especially by slamming the gas a lot. Although you can drive like this, the problem will only get worse. The transmission may need to be rebuilt, some new part bought for it, or need an entirely new transmission altogether. However with the mileage on this car, it probably isn't worth fixing, just drive the car untill the tranny dies and sell it for parts.
