Heater stays on heat


The rod that attaches the heat controls is out of place or broken and isn't moving the flap. Could be on the control end on the dash or the other end and/or could be a vacuum line fell off in this same area behind the controls.

Why my air condition blow cold air even when its not on


It blows cold air with the mode selector in what position. If it is on defrost and you have the temp adjusted to full heat than the a/c will be on to dry the air before it hits the windshield, this helps to remove the fog from the windows. If there is no heat coming out the vents than you need to check to make sure the blend door is working. You should hear a distinctly different sound out the vents when you turn the heat from full cold to full hot. Also check to see if the heater core is plugged. With the engine warm you should be able to feel little difference in the temp of the two hoses that go to the heater core. If one is hot and one is cool than there is a flow issue. Either the water control valve is bad, it is not being opened by the HVAC control head, the is a vacuum leak to the control valve or the heater core is plugged. Your vehicle may or may not have a valve that controls the flow of hot water to the heater core.

Heater blows cool air instead of warm air


check your coolant level if it is low top it off. if it is full you may need to change your thermostat to get the temp back to normal. for the heat check the heater control valve to make sure it isn't stuck (heater control valve should be located against fire wall connected to heater hose.

Check the heater control valve. It is usually behind the engine up next to the firewall. Have someone inside the car move the heater control to heat. A lever on the heater control valve should move when this is done.

This valve allows hot coolant to enter the heater core inside the car. If this hot coolant doesn't arrive, you have no heat.

When the engine is cold,check the coolant level.

Make sure it's on max.

A coolant system should be flush every two years.

If you did a coolant flush recently then air pocket can be the cause of the un-even heating problem.

The DIY method is to drive you car onto a ramp or a steep hill.

Iet the engine cool off and top off the coolant tank.

Set MAX heat + MAX fan

Let the engine ran for 20 minutes wih the cap off and the trap air will escape from the coolant reserve tank,

Check coolant level and top off coolant when the engine cools down.



A shop will charge $75+ for this but using an air operated excavate tool!

A car with over 90K miles may experience linkage problem to the heater control valve.

The heater control valve (near the firewall) may be stick over time.

Open the hood and move the heater to max and min. Back and forth.

Clean and lube the linkage with WD-40 to free the heater control valve.

If it's a vacuum type heater control valve then cash for leaky vac. hoses.

Move the fan switch back and forth to re-new the electrical conductors.

Pass a vacuum over the control panel to prevent dust build up behind the console.

My 91 Camry only blows hot air, even without trying the a/c. Is the problem in the electronic control module or elsewhere under the dash? I'd think I could at least get it to blow cool air, but it stays on...


I would go and replace the ecm which is the brain computer and it tells the engine and its components what to do and if it is on the fritz then your car will start acting retarded and it will only perform at a minimal rate of success.

There are a couple of things you can check, or have checked. Under the dash, behind or around the ac duct work, there is vacuum operated actuator valves, which open and close different doors to direct heat or cool air,one of them might be stuck in the heat position.But the first thing to check, if the truck is equiped with it, is the heater control valve, it is under hood passenger side connected to one of the heater hoses going into firewall.Move the lever in opposit position, if you get cool air,thats the problem.If it's vacuum operated,check for leak,if no leak,replace valve.
