2004 Sorento vent selector not working


linkages which control the flow of air have broken or slipped from there proper position. almost certainly a mechanical problem. check under the dash along the route from the control knob to all the linkages you can find. plastic parts or metal cables will be involved here.

Blower motor working on all 4 speeds but air only circulates through the defrost. No air circulation at floor or top vent outlets.


No vacuum to switch. The system uses vacuum from the intake manifold to operate the various vent doors. Look under the hood for the small vacuum line that goes into the firewall near the A/C lines--there may be some other ones there a different color, but only one--usually black--goes to the intake manifold vacuum port. Make sure it's hooked up and not leaking there. If that's OK, see if you can get behind the control switch in the cabin. The line may have come loose there, or perhaps your switch is leaking there.

The AC air comes out defrost sometimes and comes


what position is the control switch in? does this occur when accelerating?

the door that directs air flow is controled by a vacuum motor. the default position for the door directs air flow to the defrost vents in the event of vacuum loss to ensure the windsheild will be clear of mist. if there is a small leak, vacuum will temporarily be removed when accellerating and the motor will revert to the default position. there are vacuum lines from the control knob to the motor you must check these lines for leaks. the diaphram in the motor may be bad. also check the main vacuum supply line to the control knob. usually red in color. if there is a vacuum storage cannister. it may be leaking. this cannister will maintain vacuum for the circuit when accellerating. engine vacuum decreases when accellerating.

Blowes air throught defrost vents only


its a problem with the switching mechanism. you have to look up under the dash to see if you can see where the switching mechanism is. if you can not see it from there youll have to remove complete center dash

2005 ford explorer that has no heater control


the next thing to check would be the selector motors, these motors are what move door to get floor or defrost or vent air and also hot/cold air, look under the dash try to find them, there bolted to heater box,there are 3, locate one by one then move every control and watch to see linkage move find the one that doesnt move and thats your problem, hope this helps.heres a picture to help you know what it looks like.7d37251.gif

Problem with air not coming out of vents.


Check for a vacum leak from the engine to the a/c.The color of the hose is black. Also check if the heater control valve hose is unplugged. If you have vacuum the it sounds like the door for the vent/floor/defrost is broken.

look for a broken plastic vacuum line under hood, vacuum is what controls the heater controls inside the car
