Diy balancing a car wheel?
You can DIY this but it would be simpler, quicker and more accurate to get a tyre fitter to do it for you. They usually only charge a small fee to do it.
You will need a way of spinning the wheel and tyre freely at the angle it rolls at, without it wobbling. When set up like this the heaviest part of the tyre will always settle at the bottom so add the weight opposite at the top. This method is slow and very time consuming as you need to add small weights one at a time until it balances. Wheels often need weights at more than one place on the rim taking even more time to balance. Basically you have to guess what weight you need. A tyre fitter's machine will accurately mark the lightest points on the wheel and tell him exactly what weight it needs.
