Question about 2000 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

The ABS light is always on. This has been the case for years. The brakes have always performed well so I ignored the light. I may want to trade the truck in later this year and the only problem is this light.

Why is my ABS and break light on?

Year/make/model?? The brake light will normally come on with the ABS light if there is a malfunction within the ABS system. You will need to have a scan test performed on the ABS module to see what codes are present that will provide a basis for diagnostics and correct from there. The hydraulic brake system will function normally, however, the anti-lock portion of the brake system will be inoperative as long as the ABS light remains on

Abs brake light

The Brakes may seem to work okey, but you have an
ABS Braking System light on- indicating a system fault,
just like any other check light you get

Do you not check for codes almost the same day any dash light
or check light comes on?

It will bite you some day-- if you ignore the reason they are there

You have an ABS Light on

You have a grinding noise

Things aren't right when you use the brakes.

My question is---Why Are You Using It?

The dash lights have been on vehicles for 30
years, but you continue to ignore them and
drive it anyway.

They are there so you have it diagnosed and repaired.

The ABS light is an indication of your Anti-lock Brake system malfunction, not meaning your brake system will fail, the ABS keeps the brakes from locking up during bad weather (rain and snow) they can still stop the vehicle but you stand a chance of locking up as in older vehicles without this option...hope that helps!!

ABS warning light always on no effect on braking performance poss fix? Audi 100e 1992

Yes this can affect the brake performance, when the light is on a fault code is stored in the ABS control module, u will need to find out what that code is, a special scanner is needed to access this code, most brake shops and of course the dealer can do this test.

Abs light on always honda accord 2003 4 cyl

either your sensor is faulty, or you need t oservice your brakes. best to have a pro look at it unless you are experienced with brakes...they are quite important for safety, and you should not ignore the warning.

The abs works fine but the light is always on it has been for years i want to turn it off how can i do this

Have you ever slammed on your brakes in a safe area (like a big parking lot) in the rain to see how it stops? I think I'd try that before I ignore the light.

ABS Light on 98 Volvo V70

Your car had been designed to work with ABS brakes, if ABS is not working brakes performance can be badly affected, particularly at high speed.
To keep the vehicle safety to standards the ABS should be inspected. At a qualified garage they can connect to ABS system, get an error code in return and diagnose the problem.
Check relays first.
