It's your battery cable, fastest way to check this is to bypass your negative cable. Just get a jumper cable, clip on end to neg(-) and the other to ground, then try to start your car, if it starts then replace your negative cable. If not try to bypass your positive cable.

Presss brake pedal dash lights come on,park lights come on,blower motor goes on and off.

Pick a multi meter and start measuring some voltages. I'm afraid some ground points are not grounded anymore. (floating) I hope you don't have any shortage, but check the cabling and all points where the chassis is used as a return. An oxidised point can cause strange errors.

2008 Saturn vue won't go out of park and shows it being in reverse and won't start.

Broken shift cable ?
If the neutral safety switch is on the transaxle and the cable is broken, the switch could still be in the reverse position.

Put a new engine in a 1998 isuzu rodeo now it won't start. I thought it was the neutral safety switch because the R was on the dash and it was in park

This could be the problem. If your dash indicator is showing reverse but the transmission is in park it could be the safety switch. I'm not talking about the safety switch in the transmission though. In automatics they put a second switch to kill the starter from engaging. You need to adjust the linkage. If your shifter isn't actually on the column but the indicators are there is a cable that attaches the floor shift to the column and that is adjustable. Put the Floor shifter in Park and turn the column section nearest the dash by hand until you find park. Then adjust the cable length as needed. If all you have is the column shift it is still a cable adjustment. Set the emergency brake, drop the shifter to low 1 and adjust the cable linkage by loosening it on the transmission and manually move it all the way to low 1 then tighten it down then move the shifter to park and repeat teh adjustment process to verify that it is properly aligned. Lock the linkage back down and see if the vehicle will start, if it doesn't move the shifter to neutral and try to start the vehicle if the vehicle starts then check the column shift safety switch at the park position to make sure it is still in place and working. Typically, if the vehicle won't start in Park or Neutral it is more likely to be the Transmission neutral safety switch.

Getting no spark. a recent code mentioned the crank sensor and o2 sensor. the o2 sensor was replaced and no new code has shown but it only ran once since then. would like to know where the crank sensor...

O2 sensor won't cause a no spark no start condition but the crank sensor will. most time bad crank sensor will not set a code if engine doesn't start. usually set code on o drop while driving. I would check connection at sensor if good then replace sensor.

1998 Saturn SW2, 180,000+ miles. Recent starting problem.

It does sound like an electrical issue.  Double check if the ground connections are all OK.  You may have to check out the wirings, even the wiring loom if all wires are still OK.

STARTING PROBLEM

i would check the starter it sounds like the started is getting hot and the solenoid on the starter is losing the connections inside and when it cools off it is making contact again
