You do not say what design 3 series; but for E36 with electric seat adjustment, Odometer Gears (link below), makes replacement gears for the electric seats for approximately $40 each. This is the part that typically wears/breaks for seat reclining.

My 1995 bmw 325ic drivers window oes up and down the last cm (1/4 in) on its own when I hit a bump or rough patch of road. Sometimes the road may be smooth or the car is turned off and parked and the...

10_30_2013_8_35_47_pm.jpgFrigging easy fix. Inspect your door striker latch, that is fixed to the car ( not on the door). It is the hook looking thing which works as a catch loop for your door. if you put your finger in it, you will feel a little button in there. This button is responsible for doing it. This means when you driving, button engages/disengages. Just apply a bit of epoxy on it, to make it fatter. this way it wont be affected by shaking .
Picture - this is what you looking for. It on the car, not the door. There is a little switch inside it.
If this doesnt help, google e36 window micro switch. cheers.

Hi,
You have a problem in the window regulator assembly.
Go to a nearest garage and have check the window regulator, sounds like the gear mechanism have been nicked and releasing the window in heavy vibration.
Hope that helps!

Plastic inserts on runner broke for electric window on drivers side car is bmw e36 1995

Well, there's no way they're just going to sell the plastic inserts for $3.00 ea you know.

I mean come on....not when they can sell you the entire actuator for $125.00. And then those will break too. At least all you gotta do is take of the door panel, and that's not that too hard a job.

BMW actuators, all series, break, and break often. Honda, toyota, Isuzu, etc.....hardly ever. WTF?

Pray your electric sunroof doesn't go out. It may be easier to work on the shuttle than take that project on.

Anyway, typically the stops in the actuator break off. Nothing to do but replace the entire actuator.

BMW 1996 328i E36 cnvertible Driver side window will not go down and back up when door is opened and then closed? It did this once before but started working but now it has started again.

micro switch may have failed. have a very close look in the door latch fixed to the car...there should be a very small square pressable switch.. open the door and press your finger inside the latch against the little button, the window should drop and raise. If you dont have one there its on the inside of the door lock mechanism.
