I would replace the fuel filter first. More chance of a clogged filter than a fuel pump problem.

Check your fuel filter. NOTE: sometimes a fuel pump will run, but still too weak to supply enough pressure to run an engine properly. Replace the pump if you haven't already. Get a new one and at least you can eliminate it as the problem.

1994 Mazda PU Truck sometimes won't start if shutoff for 5-10 minutes.. Several tries later, it will start. spark seems ok, it gets enough fuel for a second, but then poops out. fuel pump shuto

Well there is no shutoff relay, but there is a fuel pump relay that powers the pump.
I would check it first. The computer grounds the relay for 3 seconds when you crank the engine to boost fuel pressure. Once the engine starts the pump is powered only if you have oil pressure.

First, tell your friend that if a fuel filter is clogged up enough to cause stalling, it will also cause the engine to not run at all. Yes, fuel pumps can work intermittently when they are going out, but it is rare.

You didn't bother to mention what YEAR, MODEL, or ENGINE SIZE you are talking about, so I cannot check for specific information (like Technical Service Bulletins) for your vehicle. The only thing I know about your vehicle at this point is that it is a Jeep. (This is really need-to-know information - especially when you are wanting information on why your engine is not running correctly.

Then, before you start jumping to any conclusions about whether it is being caused by the fuel pump or if it is being caused by a clogged up fuel filter, it would be wise to first PROVE that it is even being caused by the fuel system at all, and not the ignition system. That is the first step...ISOLATE THE SYSTEM. Only AFTER that has been done, should you worry about which PART of that system is causing the problem. (Just a little Automotive Diagnostics and Repair 101)

With all that said, Jeeps are notorious for bad crankshaft position sensors causing the symptoms you are describing.

I'm not sure which engine you have but it has a fuel supply pump usually mounted under the cab on the frame rail, it has a injector pump and an injector pump control module mounted on the engine and the injector pump has a fuel shutoff electric solonoid that shuts the engine off with the key. Provided that there is clean fuel available to the supply pump, any of these 4 parts could cause these symptoms.

Does the fuel pump run? If not it could be bad or the inertia switch might need resetting. If the pump does run it may be worn out and not supply enough pressure to trigger the fuel injectors.

Trying to turn car on and its cranking but it feels like its not getting fuel to the engine to turn on.

Could be the fuel pump relay. When the key in turned on, this relay causes the fuel pump to run for a very short time to build pressure in the fuel manifold which supplies the engine enough fuel for a cold start. Without this happening the engine would not get enough fuel to start. I'd replace the spark plugs too. Make sure the gap is set to spec.

Low engine oil pressure can cause a fuel pump to shut off. Its a safety feature included in most vehicles any more to prevent running an engine with little or no oil and burning up the engine itself. Make sure the engine has enough oil, and then look for the oil sending unit. Could be bad, or going bad.
Try replacing the fuel filter. I would imagine it to be located under the car, inline with the fuel lines, otherwise consult your owners manual for the location.
Look for any broken ground wires in and around the engine compartment and possibly around the fuel tank itself. Could be dirty, corroaded, or just not making a good connection.
The last thing, I can think of would be a bad fuel pump. I've taken fuel pumps out of the fuel tank before where trash was cloging the first filter and rendering its capability, before finally burning up.

yup a new set of glow plugs its what fires over a desiel engine.similar to spark plugs to a gas engine. the glow plugs get weak and arnt hot enough to fire the fuel. hope that helps

My 99` jimmy will not turn over.I had the fuel pump replaced. It seem like it`s not getting in gas. I was wondering do jimmy trucks have a fuel shutoff valve in the back.

your statement is "my jimmy won't turn over"
why are you concerned about the fuel pump?
the fuel pump only supplys fuel to the injectors while the engine is cranking over & runing. You should be looking at a dead battery or faulty starter. Its also possible the engine is locked up. But I would start by trying to jump the battery. If the starter is starting to fail, sometimes you can use a small hammer and lightly hit the starter while someone else is turning the key, this method can be dangerous to the person under the car so be carfull, but it can cause the starter to rotate enough to catch and crank the engine over properly.

If your concern is that the engine is cranking over & wont start, that a different issue.
Your truck does not have a fuel shut off like some Ford products. You can simply depress the shreader valve in the fuel line while the key is on & you should get a lot of fuel to spray out. This would indicate the pump is working and the problem maybe electrical, no spark.
