Question about 1998 Land Rover Discovery
I have a Land rover Discover 1998,it runs great but out of the blue it starts running hard and it dosent accelerate. Its starts making a clunking sound under it and the rmps work fine but its dosent raise mph.
What could the problem be I went to the mechanic and they said everything seemed fine.
It has been sitting for a year tought could it be the gas filter or any sensors,i changed the spark plug wires and brakes.
What could it be?
I was experiencing a similar type of problem. Had it checked and the mechanic said engine and transmission were fine. He checked the fuel pump though and it was only giving 20psi or so, supposed to be at around 45psi. The weak pump made it flounder at anything over 30mph. Replaced it and now my disco runs great. Maybe give that a check.

If the engine is revving but the car doesn't move faster , I would be looking at the clutch or Gearbox.Sounds like the clutch is slipping.
Have your mechanic check it out.
Hope this helps.
