Thanks Bad Dog, I've checked those common probs. I had a Ply van once that the front speakers quit when my dash cigarette lighter stopped working. I found out by replacing the lighter fuse that the speakers started working again. I was hoping someone might know of a similar prob and fix for my Cherokee.

You wouldn't happen to have a diagram for the fuse box located at the kick panel on the front passenger side under the dash would you?

If its the tweeters ( small speakers under the windshied) that stopped working, its a common problem for Cherokees with the " infinity gold"'s the issue....its an amplified system and Jeep didn't include a crossover.....this allows too much bass to reach these small treble-only speakers and blows/fries got two options without the tweeters, or replace em (like i did) has a direct replacement set of speakers complete with crossover and plug for the factory wiring harness for around 40 bucks........The Jeep dealer was charging 120 bucks for a non-crossover replacement set that would eventually blow, so I opted for the cheaper pair and so far(9 months) I havent had an issue with em.......easy install too.....just pop the panel with the speaker grills out with a putty knife, butter knife, etc......unscrew the blown speakers with a stubby or right-angle screwdriver , unlug em, plug in the new ones, screw em back in, pop the panel back on and ROCK OUT!!! and have good installation instructions with pictures if ya ned em.....hope this helps y'all

Well your deck might be bad, you could have a lose connection in your wiring to your speakers, you might not have a connection to your speakers, or your speakers could be bad.

1999 Cherokee Sport has four speakers, two front and two rear. All speakers work except the one in the fronr driver side door. I swapped this speaker to the other side and it works fine there. ...

To eliminate wiring issue take good speaker and hook it up directly to the left front output - if it does not work then that amp is blown. Period.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee makes a lot of noise when selecting Reverse. Forward gear okay. Now, reverse doesn't work and it sounds like the transmission is coming apart.

Your automatic transmission has an internal low and indirect clutch. The indirect clutch is what's used when your vehicle is in reverse. You might have a heavy jerking when you put it into gear that feels like vehicle got hit by another or loud rattling or chattering in gears. It very well may be coming apart as you think and soon, so I'd recommend taking it to your local transmission shop to inspect and test it and they can give you a more detailed idea of what it would take to fix it. good luck
