When i turn my sterring wheel all the way to one side no matter which, my brake pedal ,it goes all the way down?

    check rubber brake hose going to frt calypers for cracks,leaks and softnest!

Brake Trouble, The amber and red brake/abs lights are on. The pedal is extremly hard to depress. Where should I start?


try getting the air in the brakes bled, if that doesnt work check the master cylinder,or when you drive see if when u put on the brakes see if you let go of the sterring wheel and brake to see what side it pulls to,

Your brakes are vacuum aided so when engine is off the pedal will be hard. When the engine runs the vacuum is active and the pedal becomes light. Your brakes are working but need adjustment so that the pedal does not go to the floor.
Locate the adjusting screws behind the rear wheel drums.
With one wheel jacked adjust the shoes till wheel wont turn.
Then loosen until wheel is just free of any friction from shoes.
Repeat for other side.

There is oil al over the inside my hood on the driver side looks like a line let go not sure


ENGINE OIL IS INTERNAL. CHECK POWER STERRING HOSES WHILE RUNNING TURN STERRING WHEEL TO INCREASE PRESURE FOR FINDING LEAKS. CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS AT MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER FOR LEAKS THERE. BU PRESSING ON BRAKE PEDAL.

How to bleed rear brakes on a 1997 honda Prelude


the best rule of thumb is to work from the closest bleeder to the master cylinder, it does take two people!!!!!!! one to pump the brakes and one to open and close the bleeder.

1. fill the resivor
2. pump the pedal all the way down and up, tell the pumper to hold down.
3. crack open the L-F bleeder untill the pedal goes all the way to the floor.
4. repeat untill you get brake fluid with no air bubbles.
5. you MUST do all wheels no matter what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6. please do it in this order left froont, right front, left rear, and then right rear.
7. just pump and hold, open bleeder, close bleeder, and repeat for each wheel.
8. make sure to keep filling the fill point on the master cylinder.

The flasher is located under the sterring wheel to the left, just over the brake pedal, the flasher unit is a (commonly) round or cubic dollar size piece

ABS brakes shudder


YOU NEED A SCANNER TO MONITOR THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. THE ABS IS SENSING A SKID AND THE ABS IS ACTIVATED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THERE MAY BE A CODE FOR THE HUB THAT IS CAUSING THE ABS TO ACTIVATE.

CHECK THE WIRES FROM THE SENSORS FOR BREAKS OR CHAFFING. AN OHM READING OF THE SENSOR SHOULD BE 850-1200 OHMS, AND AND A-C VOLTAGE READING SHOULD BE 100 MV WITH YOU TURNING THE WHEEL BY HAND.

I have a shimmy in mySteering wheel not all the time it comes on randomly.


In absence of more information, this is usually an symptom of warped brake rotors. A rotor can build up enough heat in a hard stop to be bendable especially with the high hydrolic pressure a brake pad can bring to bear. Simply, If you keep the brake pedal depressed hard after a hard/long stop it can warp the rotor. (NOTE: at a hard stop, as soon as possible let the car creep forward a few inches at a time so the brake pad won't be on any one spot too long, plus keep light brake pressure --only enough to keep the car from rolling). The warped rotor causes the brake pad and caliper to float too far from the rotor and you won't feel the shimmy until you apply brakes. Under brake pedal pressure each time the wheel rotates under brake pressure the rotor and caliper will rapidly vibrate a few millimeters to each side giving the sensation of a shimmy in the sterring wheel. Most of the time this can be corrected by having the rotors resurfaced( aka Turned)

Out of balance or out of round tires can also cause a shimmy but should occur at a given speed range. Warpped rotor shimmy occurs during deceleration.
