Question about 1998 Ford Explorer
Is this the light on the dash notifing you that you hit the button to turn the O.D. off that you're talking about? I have a 98 and my button is located in the end of the shift lever. I have hit it several times accidently and noticed the light in the dash coming on. All you have to do is push the button back in and your vehicle will once again be in O.D. which is where you want to be except when you are off roading it. Overdrive cuts your engine revolutions by 1/3 thus giving you better gas milage on the highway.
I hope this helps you and please don't forget to rate my advice.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: overdrive transmission
this is the old style transmission code you have a problem with a solenoid inside the transmission go to a transmission shop to read and replace the solenoid only not a rebuild usually

It means the transmission has seen a fault and there will be a code set for
the fault. Get the trouble codes read at an auto parts store such as AutoZone where they usually do it free and post the code if you can. It can reset its self
every time you turn the vehicle off but it will not fix the problem. Could be a minor or a major problem so you don't know till the codes are read.
