Some mounts and bushes these days are oil filled . They leak when they are worn out.

The housing is a hard part, you most likely just need the mounting seal.

I get the message "stop engine, oil pressure low"/


Are you leaking oil? Do you know for sure? When you turn your car off, if you check the dipstick the oil wont register until the car has cooled off. You also need to make sure its sitting on level ground in order to get an accurate reading. Try putting a piece of cardboard under your car to see if its leaking. leave it there for a few days. Wait an hour or so after you have turned the car off and check the oil level. Is it low? Is it normal?. Have you tried changing your oil to see if the old oil is lumpy or ruined? Are you using the right oil for your car?

Have a oil leak on oil pan on my f350,got the oil pan lose,but cant get the oil pan out, trans is in the way, do i loosen the trans or motor mount on engine


Remove the motor mount bolts and raise the engine slowly. Don't dent the oil pan when raising the engine! After the engine is raised, you should have enough clearance to remove the pan.

Hello your Dealer is going right by the book on labour now a day's garages are by law aloud to go by the book quote to do the job the book is about 7-8 hours but i have seen the job completed in 6.5 hours by someone who has allot of experience and has done several of them.So all in all they are aloud to go by the book and yes your quote is pretty much accurate and yes it is a big job hoist needed.

Have a 1999 eclipse 2.0 L...Need to replace oil pan. Do I have to remove any other parts to get the pan off


2.0L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    Engine undercover Front exhaust pipe Lower oil pan bolts and lower pan Cover Upper oil pan bolt and upper pan Baffle plate

To install:
  1. Clean all gasket surfaces of the cylinder block and the upper and lower oil pan.
  2. Install or connect the following:
    Baffle plate
  3. Apply a 0.16 in. (4mm) bead of sealant to the gasket surfaces of the upper oil pan.
    Upper oil pan onto the cylinder block within 15 minutes after applying sealant. Tighten the bolts as shown in the accompanying figure.

  4. Apply 0.16 in. (4mm) bead of sealant to the gasket surfaces of the lower oil pan.
    Lower oil pan and tighten the bolts, in the sequence shown, to 88-106 inch lbs. (10-12 Nm)

  5. Lower the vehicle and fill the crankcase to the proper level with clean engine oil.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks.
Non-Turbo Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.
  4. Once the oil has completely drained, install the plug and tighten to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
  5. Remove the front exhaust pipe.
  6. Remove the engine oil dipstick and tube assembly.
  7. Remove the front plate.
  8. Unfasten the oil pan mounting bolts, then remove the oil pan and gasket.

To install:
  1. Apply sealant at the point where the engine block meets the oil pump.
  2. Use a new gasket and install the oil pan. Tighten the mounting bolts to 8.9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  3. Install the front plate.
  4. Install the front exhaust pipe.
  5. Install the dipstick and tube assembly.
  6. Safely lower the vehicle to the floor.
  7. Refill the crankcase with oil to the proper level.
  8. nnect the negative battery cable.
  9. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Turbo Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Safely raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the front exhaust pipe.
  4. Remove the exhaust pipe and muffler assembly.
  5. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container. Once the oil has drained completely, tighten the plug to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
  6. Remove the dipstick and tube.
  7. For AWD vehicles, remove the transfer case assembly as follows:
    1. With the propeller shaft still installed, remove the transfer mounting bolt.
    2. Insert a suitable prytool in between the transfer case and transaxle, then remove the transfer case from the center shaft.
    3. Remove the transfer case from the center shaft. Do NOT tilt the transfer assembly to the rear or oil will leak out.
    4. After removing the transfer assembly, insert tool MB991193 or equivalent, to prevent the oil from leaking out. Use a piece of wire to suspend the transfer case from the body.

  8. Remove the bell housing cover.
  9. Disconnect the oil return pipe from the oil pan.
  10. Remove the oil pan mounting bolts. Tap the oil pan seal breaker MB998727 or equivalent between the oil pan and the engine block to break the seal and remove the oil pan.

To install:
  1. Clean the sealing surface on the oil pan and engine block. Apply a continuous bead of sealant MD970389 or equivalent to the oil pan.
  2. Clean the oil pan mounting bolt holes in the oil seal case.
  3. Install the oil pan to the engine block. Tighten the mounting bolts to 5.1 ft. lbs. (6.9 Nm).
  4. Use a new gasket and connect the oil return pipe to the oil pan.
  5. Install the bell housing cover.
  6. If equipped with AWD, install the transfer case assembly.
  7. Install the dipstick and tube assembly.
  8. Install the front exhaust pipe.
  9. Install the exhaust pipe and muffler.
  10. Install a new oil filter.
  11. Safely lower the vehicle to the floor and add five quarts of oil to the crankcase.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
  13. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Anyone aware of a regular problem with the 1993 Camaro Z-28 needing trans mounts every couple of years. One owner car with 100,000 miles on it, used regularly but not beaten. Thanks for the time and effort...


Mounts generally last a long time as long as the rubber portion is not exposed to oil. If there is oil coating the transmission and mount, you may want to try to find the source of the oil leak.

I don't know what engine is in the Z-28 package, but I had a '93 Lumina (3.1L V6) that leaked oil badly from the plate the blocked off the hole where the distributor used to be. (Sometime before '93, they eliminated the distributor and went to coil packs.) Replacing the gasket under this plate solved my problem.

Engine smoke problem-- Automatic, chk transmodulator. If oil in vacuum line, modulator is defective. Engine sucking up trans fluid. 10.00 fix . good indicator is smoking at cruising speed or deceleration.
Bad rings smoke under acceleration and bad valve guides smoke on deceleration. poor crankcase ventilation (pcv valve) will cause engine leaks and oil blowing out of dipstick. Good Luck

Leaking Coolant


I believe the other one is underneath the motor mount, which means you will have to remove the mount of you need access to it..

Suggest you check your engine oil, it should be either light brown if just replaced, and black if you have over 30K miles on it.

If the oil is brown like in color, maybe you have an intake manifold leak and anti freeze is getting into the motor oil (Bad Bad) Check for leaks in the heater core inside the car and see if the rugs are wet.

Check radiator for discoloration in the fin areas and tank areas. Finally check your radiator cap, maybe its defective and you loose antifreeze through the overflow.

Its the transmission casing seal is broken and its leaking transmission oil which very much required to run your with very low oil you could cease your car engine and face huge amount to repair you need reseal the engine and fill the oil in your car this as to done ASAP..................................................................................

Oil leaking..


Sounds like your oil leak is finding hot exhaust manifold and smoking/smelling. Make sure the oil filler caps and breather hoses that connect to the valve cover (Top of Engine) are attached securely. Try and determine exactly where the oil leak originates [Valve covers - top side, oil pan - underneath, or shaft seals - front and rear of engine, or left and right ends with the sideways (transverse) engine mounting]. Also check oil level - a blown head gasket or cracked head or block could lose coolant into the oil reservoir, causing an overfilled and thus leaking situation... this will show up as a creamy looking substance on the dipstick. If the engine is not making any other signs of abnormality, strange knocks or clicks, overheating, or losing gross amounts of fluids, make sure it has enough oil in the crankcase and drive it to a reputable mechanic for a true evaluation of the problem.
