Take a close look at the hood latch and see if the latch is binding and if the hood cable is not pulling back to the neutral position. Good luck and keep me posted. A good spray of WD 40 will help clean out any corrosion and dirty too.

2005 quattro , battery is dead and hood wont release. Is it an elecrtonic release?

Heidi, No electric release. The latch is probably stuck. While you pull the interior hood release have an assistant push down and pull up repeatably/vigorously until hood releases from stuck position. Lube latch and cable before closing hood. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

My Ford Taurus 2001 died while driving it. There was a small pop sound from under the hood before it died. It will restart but runs really really rough and dies again.

Hmmmmmmm.......I doubt your timing chain skipped.
Possible bad coil pack.Wasn't running hot or nearly out of oil?
If it's not a vacuum hose(large one)or fuel pump quitting, I'd say it's an internal engine problem.
Can you get someone to plug a code reader into it? don-ohio

Trunk pop open when driving

close hood and lift up on hood to see if it stays closed.
if not, check inside car to see if latch(that you pull) is in the correct position. you can tell when hood is closed that there will be some tension on latch.
check under hood, where hood closes on latch of hood, is tight and secure(no loose bolts)
also check cable if broken.
only those things can cause hood to pop open.
if all visual inspections check out and still continues to open while driving then the latch (the mechanism that hold the hood down) is bad. vibrating while driving will cause it to open.

Have a 1993 Ford Taurus, someone back into it and broke hood latch. Hood is in the closed positon and i would like to open hood without breaking rest of latch...

If your able to reach up betweent the bumper and radiator support bracket, using a flat head screw driver, locate tap with spring on the latch locking mechanism, use screw driver to push tab up and hood should pop open.

I have been having trouble with my battery in my ford taurus holding a charge. I have checked the alternator, had the battery checked and charged by a shop, I baught a multi meter and when I turn the car...

Check & see if you have a faulty mercury switch in the trunk or under the hood. Remove the bulb & check for current loss with your meter at the battery. If the current loss has stoped then you have found the problem. In other words, your light may be staying on when the trunk is closed or the hood is closed. Good luck!

Try letting it fall a bit (about 18in's) when closing works 9 times out of 10.
