Brake lights- check your brake switch (stop lamp switch) usually right above the brake pedal if this gets knocked out or out of alignment the lights will come on just like you pushing down on the pedal.

2006 Kia Amanti... the brake lights stay on

If the brake lights stay on even if the car is turned off (or even if it is on) the first thing I would be checking is the brake pedal switch under the dash. Brake lights are activated when the brake pedal is depressed and comes off the switch or the return spring is broken or stretched not allowing it to fully return when foot is taken off the brake pedal.

You may have a failed/failing brake light switch. I would look under the hood, find the brake master cylinder. Generally, the brake light switch is located on the master cylinder. Last time I messed with one, it was easy to fix. The hassle was bleeding the brakes afterward.

My brake light stays on even though my ebrake is down? what is my car telling me?

Depends on car. But pretty much the same for most. The brake light can come on if the fluid is low in the master cylinder. Either from a leak or you need to change brakes. or the emergency brake switch is bad.

Brake lights stay on even when ingnition is off

there is a brake switch a few inches above the brake pedal, sometimes there is a little rubber bumper that depresses it, that bumper rots away and the brake lights stay on. see if the parts store has something you can put in the hole, like a door panel retainer or maybe even a new bumper. you may ned to readjust the switch after that.
