It's a little different if you have a 3.0L (2v) or a 3.0L (4v) engine. I will give you directions for a 2v first. 1. disconnect neg side of battery2. remove accessory drive belt.3.remove the fasteners and move the degas bottle aside.4. disconnect the wiring from the alternator .5.remove the brace and and alternator mounting bolt. 6.remove the alternator from the engine. -------------------4v engine- 1.disconnect neg side of battery 2.remove accessory drive belt.3.remove power steering hose bracket nut from the alternator mounting bolt.4. remove the upper alternator mounting bolts Note: the left side bolt will come out with the alternator5. raise the vehicle and safely support it with jack stands. 6. remove the right front wheel 7.remove the right inner fender splash shield. 8. remove the screws and alternator splash shield.9remove the torque converter inspection cover.10.install the flywheel holding tool. 11.remove the bolt and crankshaft pulley. You won't, These kinds of things don't exist online for free. A Haynes or Chilton manual is what you need and will cost around $20 from the local car parts store such as NAPA, Checker, AutoZone, ect.

Let me know if you need anything else

How to chg alternator on 2002 ford taurus 24v dohc 3.0

ctionsThings You'll Need
  • Flywheel holding tool
  • New alternator
  • Socket wrench set
  • Torque wrench
    • 1Determine which alternator your Ford Taurus will need. You'll want to be sure the new alternator is compatible with your Taurus's engine. Models made from 1986 to 1991 have a 2.5 L HSC, 3.0 L Vulcan or 3.8 L engine. The 2.5 L engine was dropped for 1992 to 1995 models, and post-1995 models will have a 3.0 L engine.
    • 2Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Release the tension on the accessory drive belt so that you can remove the drive belt from the pulley.
    • 3Take off the mounting bolt on the right side of the alternator with a socket wrench and remove the bracket for the power steering hose. Remove the mounting bolts on top of the alternator, the front passenger wheel and tire assembly and the front fender splash shield. Remove the alternator splash shield with a socket wrench and take off the inspection cover for the torque converter.
    • 4Mount a tool to hold the flywheel so you can remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley. Lower the alternator so you can unplug its electrical connections. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and Oxygen sensor connector. Remove the lower alternator mounting bolt and B+ connector nut to remove the alternator.
    • 5Install the new alternator assembly by reversing the above procedure. Use a torque wrench to tighten the B+ connector nut to 71 in. lbs. and the lower alternator bolt to 18 foot pounds. Torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 74. foot pounds, the upper alternator bolts to 18 foot pounds and the nut for the power steering hose bracket to 13 foot pounds.

At night battery light comes on then i loose lights then car cuts off

Sounds to me that it's 'new alternator' time for your vehicle.

The battery light is directly connected to the circuitry of the alternator and when it goes on indicates that the alternator is not providing enough voltage to supply the car's ignition system with electricity and the battery is discharging to fill the gap.

Replace the alternator, in this case.

I have to purchase an alternator but my Taurus is not driveable. Can I give the vin to know which alrernator I need?

All you need is the model, year and engine size to get the right alternator, but it's best if you take the old one in to be tested before you buy a new one. Would you **** instructions for removing the alternator?
