1998 Subaru legacy wagon intermittently starts in warm weather

When tempature reaches approx. 80 degees car may or may not start immediately. May have to wait 5 to 10 minutes and try again. Already replaced starter with no change.

Will the timing belt cool down in the span of few minute to shrink enough to start the car.

It starts fine in the morning. The problem occurs when the temperature rises during the heat of the day.

It does not happen every time it's hot just occasionally.

    Thanks for your help.

Thats probably the timing belt/chain depending on what your car has. when it gets hot its stretches a little bit and makes it just enough out of time where it wont start. when it cools down, it tightens back to the correct timing and allows it to start right. Hope this helps

Timing is the only thing i can think of at the moment. it would be more likely if it were doing it every time it gets hot. try re-posting to get a second opinion.

How come my wagon won't start but only sometimes?

Sounds like weak connection somewhere,I would start by one at a time, clean by scraping the prongs of each fuse. If this does not resolve your issue go by one of the parts houses that provide free electrical and charging system checks
