Ru awake, fy? Looking toward Ford 2.9L engine from in front of radiator, which way does crankshaft/fan/belts rotate...

You still haven't got this truck back together, or gone to a junkyard to find a like model? Let's pretend you are an object. If you always saw the exposed side of the pictured fan, would you be the radiator, or would you be the engine. What does it look like this week? The same or different? I can't call it from here. The main idea lies in the coupler that attaches the fan/clutch/shaft to the drive belt. If it is left hand thread, the shaft normally turns clockwise. Vice versa for right hand thread.

I would've already ended my agony by installing an electric fan if I couldn't figure it out. From that 2008 toyota next to the ranger I went to the u-pull-it yard to look at. 4 bolts and 20 bucks and all that wonder why would end. uploadserror please enter an image url (gif, jpg, png).

How do you replace the alternator 1997 Cadillac Eldorado

Hi there:
Check this procedure on 4.6L Engine (except Seville)...

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the cover from the headlamps and radiator shroud.
  3. Remove the air cleaner, if necessary.
  4. Disconnect the left engine torque strut from the radiator support.
  5. Disconnect the upper trans oil cooler line from the trans cooler.
  6. Remove the right cooling fan and the left cooling fan.
  7. Remove the serpentine belt from the generator pulley.
  8. Remove the bolt from the front top of the generator, and the bolt from the lower front of the generator.
  9. Detach the harness connector and output cable from the generator.

NOTEThe bolt nearest the exhaust manifold cannot be removed from the bracket but can be backed out to allow for removal of the generator.
  1. Removal the A/C splash shield from the cradle, and the access panel from the bottom side of the radiator support.
  2. Disconnect the engine harness from the cradle.

NOTEThe generator can be moved out away from the engine and removed from the bottom side of the engine compartment.

To install:

  1. Install the generator to mounting with the two bolts to the rear of the generator. Hand tighten the bolts.
  2. Connect the engine harness clip to the cradle.
  3. Install the access panel to the lower radiator support. Install the A/C splash shield to the cradle.
  4. Attach the harness connector and output cable to the generator.
  5. Tighten the rear mounting bolts to 36 ft. lbs. (47 Nm). The output cable to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  6. Install the bolt to the lower front of the generator and tighten to 36 ft. lbs. (47 Nm). Install the bolt to the top front of the generator and tighten to 36 ft. lbs. (47 Nm).
  7. Rotate the drive belt tensioner and install the drive belt around the generator pulley. Inspect for correct alignment of the belt with all the accessory pulleys.
  8. Install the left cooling fan, and then the right.
  9. Attach the upper trans oil cooler line to the trans cooler.
  10. Install the left engine torque strut.
  11. If the air cleaner was removed, install it now.
  12. Replace the cover from the headlamps and radiator shroud.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Car overheated and antifreze was boiling and spewing over until engine cooled. 2004 jeep liberty 2wd. Thanks!

Need to know what caused the overheating, possible broken serpentine belt, thermostat, water pump, radiator, fan clutch, cooling fan motor. After motor has cooled down fill radiator with water till full, look make sure serpentine belt not broke, start engine run about 5 minutes, turn off, let sit 3 minutes, start engine look at temperture gauge is it over half way of gauge, Do you have a fan blade driven by water pump or electric fans?

We need to replace a fan belt that broke. Does

You can do it. If it takes longer than 10 minutes something is wrong. If its a V8 make sure the tensioner is good, Fan belts rarely just "break" so check all the pulleys.

You should see it if you stand in front of car, look at the belts behind radiator fan, look to the top of those belts and it should be to the left with a belt hooked to it.
