Grease and oil on my rear differentual

I have a 1999 dodge ram 5.9 1500 (gas). i was driving and i heard a gringing noise coming from under my truck. i got out to look at it and my rear differentual is no covered with grease and oil...what could of happened

Could be ujoint or pinion or bearings! you haft to pull diff cover and check for metal chips see if driveline is tight

It sounds like you have a u-joint going bad, most likely the one at the rear end. When you replace it get one that you can grease. Hope this helps.

2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4.There is a grinding noise only in 4 wheel drive only when turning.Rear differencial fluid was just replaced.

This sounds like a bad CV shaft. Check the boots for grease on the outside of them or torn boots the grease may have already washed out and wiped out the joints.

did you check your transaxle fluid level? drain/replace transaxle fluid dont forget the friction modifier additive. it is required for proper function of your limited slip. signs of a failing differential are metal shavings in the bottom of the case, worn ring/pinion grooves. the other issue with your shift problem could be a failing shift solenoid, however, a vacuum leak will cause crappy shifts because your trans relies on good vacuum to shift.

check the gearcase should be level with side fill plug.use gear oil for a rearend diff.

Weight/ and how often to change or add rear end grease?

there is a rubber plug on the differential cover pop this out to fill/check fluid shbould be about 1/4" below this plug. to change pull the inspection cover off to drain fluid. use 80w/90w gear oil
