Question about 1997 Chrysler Sebring

I have a 97 sebring that wont start. It has plenty of juice to turn it over but wont. would this be a fuel pump, maybe a fuel filter or like fuel injectors? im not sure if its even fuel injected though.

ALL American sold vehicles are fuel injected since around 1986. That having been said, have someone put their ear against the open fuel filler tube. Turn the key on 2 or 3 times(not over) just on. If they dont hear a hum for about 2 seconds you'lll probably need an in tank fuel pump. Sometimes it's the relay but rarely.

Check the flow at the fuel pump,a filter generally doesn't go bad/plug up within a minute so it may be the pump.Check flow to the pump from the tank also.

My 1998 chrysler sebring convertable wont start I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump new battery the car will turn over just wont start


Verify you have spark, those are known to have issues with the camshaft sensor in the distributor. I have put 2 distributors in my daughter's 97 sebring jxi, did the same thing.

cloged fuel filter maybe or dirty air filter timing could be off igniton coil could be dying

Got a 97 Sebring coupe with new fuel pump and


first you will need to find out if you have a fuel regulator... look on the end of the fuel rail on the engine for a round bell shape part with a vacuum line attached, remove the vacuum line and see if there is fuel bubbling from the regulator... if so you found the problem.. if not respond and ill let you know where to go from there. good luck

If you have fuel in the tank, more than likely it's gonna be a fuel pump or pump relay.

CBMW wont start will run if push started. Plenty


There are 3 fuel filters in he 528 and when you turn on the ignition, you should hear a buzz that means that the engine is being primed, if you don't, your pump hased gone, The Bms' have a system where the fuel is automatically drained back into the tank and automatically primed prior to starting the engine. This only takes miliseconds, but the primer part of the pump is not part of the mechanical pump so tahts' why it will start when pushed Let me know how you get on. Dave

97 sebring lxi, 2.5L - car died leaving driveway. wont start. been running fine, no noises, hiccups and nothing when it died. battery good, changed plugs, fuel pump buzzes when key is turned, engine cranks...


first thing you got to do is determen weather its electrical or fuel problem, you can take a test light and hook to a ground and the light end to a spark plug and see if it lights while someone turns over engine, if it lights you got spark. if its got spark, on to fuel, take fuel pressure test, don't think because you can hear pump working does not mean it is, it can sound like it is but its not, at least putting out enought pressure, not the correct amount it will not run. pumps will go out just that way with no warning at all.

97 Sebring stall


Were you able to hear the fuel pump before you had the problem? Some of these cars won't let the fuel pump run until the computer picks up distributor signal first. Chryslers are known for cam and crank sensors going bad. Not a back-yard repair, though. Diagnosing it is half of the problem, repairing it is the other. Hopefully the posts come up with more obvious stuff.
