2008 Dodge Grand Caravan owned one week and the drivers door unlocks itself.

The Power door lock, on the drivers side, on our 2008 on our 2008 Grand Caravan, unlocks itself after approximately 30 minutes of being locked. We have only owned this vehicle one week. Could it be the body control module that needs to be replaced? I read about this problem with the 2004 model.

Yes it could be that module. There's a few other causes, like a low battery, poor battery cables, broken wires in the door frame. Checking the wiring in the door is as simple as grabbing the harness in the door frame,by the hinge & wiggling it to see if there's a reaction. The fuse you refer to would control that but it controlls all the locks & interior stuff so it's good or that lock & lots of other stuff wouldn't work.

Hey,

Pull the OID fuse, count to five and put it back in. If that fixes your problem (temporarily), ask the dealer to look up the TSB that reflashes the body controller to an updated software level. Cost me $70, but no problems since (6+ weeks).

Theres not a whole lot of information to go by but i will run a few scenarios by you if it is an electric lock if it unlocking itself it is and electrical issue maybe wiring connection on the side of door by hinge possible short!also it maybe could be a the switch on the drivers inside door panel that could be sticking-use silicon spray around switch(you can buy at walmart)to unstick!it also could be internal linkage that maybe dry(needing lube)but doubt that because of year! more than likely sticking switch or faulty lock unlock switch on drivers side door!!! Best of Luck to you!! amtnng

Look for contacts at door jamb & door, that mate when closed.( usually round metal piece) Take a piece of fine steel wool & scrub them and see if that cures it.
