Question about 1998 Pontiac Bonneville
You have a bad A/C compressor unfortunately this is not a DIY kind or problem
you are going to need a mechanic to replace your A/C compressor the accumulator drier and the orifice tube.
make sure he change the orifice tube and the accumulator drier
or you will have the same problem again.
please don't give me a bad rating just because is not what you wanted to hear.

How long have you ran the engine ? I know that they will run rough and sometimes make strange noises for a few secounds or a little bit untill everything get oiled up again. I would make sure all the push rods are back in the right place and that all the lifters are tight.
To be sure, have your engine tested for compression leaks. Fame !
