The transmisson fluid line has a nut and gasket pushed down the line and is then flared to prevent the nut from coming off. Now the line can be attached with ease using an open ended wrench of the appropriate size.

I would check for loose motor mounts or transmission mounts. Also check shifter rod linkage for looseness or adjustment.

There is a hose hanging and it seems to be leaking transmission fluid. Now it will not go in reverse. Is my transmission savable?

Look under the car and see where the hose came from and re-attach it. There are three lines there. Two are cooler lines (attach to the side of the case and run to the radiator), one is a vent line (and should not leak fluid) Check the transmission level and add whatever is necessary to bring the level back to full. While adding fluid, keep checking underneath to make sure what you are adding is not going on the ground. If the transmission is full when you first check it then you need a transmission shop to run a diagnostics test to determine the cause of the malfunction. If the trans fluid is very low and filling it gets reverse back then change the fluid and add a quart of lucas trans conditioner and it may help. But....if it was driven low for a considerable amount of time it will need a rebuild.

My transmission coolant lines are leaking at the fitting that goes into the radiator. They came brand new with my radiator. im just wondering why they leak. maybe i hooked them up wrong.

When you attached them did you make sure the threads were not crossed? You should have been ableto attach them by hand then tighten with wrench. Just tighten enough to prevent leak (at pressure). If this fails try using teflon tape on the threads to create a better seal.

2001 mitsubishi eclipse. Automatic transmission

Transmission may be low on transmission fluid or the transmission fluid pump failed. If it's electrical, you can still get it in to gear, but would not shift gears. Good luck and keep me posted, check transmission fluid level and have the transmission line pressure tested. Before that check all your fuses.

My car keeps poping out of first and secong gear. and today it started to act like the engine was going to drop out when I slowed down to stop.

Yea that is not good. It is more than likely your transmission is just slipping. And you will need a new transmission.

Transmission line leak howto change lines

You can easily change these by disconnecting one end from the radiator attach point and the other from the transmission attach point, install the new line, check your transmission fluid level (because you will lose a little when you remove the old line) and your done. Fairly simple procedure. Good luck.
