Question about 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

2 Answers

I have a 01 beetle tdi with 100k miles on it. It doesn't have any get up and go like it used to, and is really bad and steep hills. I have checked air cleaner, intake piping , cleaned intercooler, and removed and cleaned carbon buildup on egr and intake manifold. This helped a little but not as much as I hoped. Can you help? Thanks

Ithought that it could be the filter but I'VE CHANGED IT TWICE SINCE i'VE HAD THE PROBLEM, I changed the fuel filter every 10k, it's been acting up since I changed the filter at 90k, and changed it at 100k

Have you changed the timing belt ?
I'm just wondering that because if you haven't maybe it's slipped a tooth and the valve timing is out .........

My 2007 ford taurus 3.0 sel has 104000 miles and the check engine light came on 6 months ago I refuse to drive the highway because my car is slow to accelerate and it misfires and hesitates going up steep...

You should get the check engine light read to see what the code(s) is. This will help with diagnosing what is going on with your taurus.
It may just need a simply tune-up since it has over 100k. The coil pack may need to be replaced, could be a bad cam position sensor, a vacuum leak...
Most parts stores, like Advance Auto Parts, will check the code for free

2002 Santa Fe 127174 miles. On hills car slows dwn, rpm is climbing, speed is droping. on steep hills from a dead stop rpm's are 4,000 speed is just below 20mph. have had the fluid flushed twice.

sounds like your transmission is going bad fast. get it checked asap to see if it can still be saved. aamco will take a look at it. if its completely bad, then getting a new transmission might be cheaper than getting the current one fixed so look into that!!

My 2002 S40 shakes when the car goes up a steep hill and smooths out when the road levels.

Most up hill problems are Ignition related, such as
individual cylinder coils or a coil pack, depending on
what your car has.

You may or may not have a check light on the dash

A more violent & more sudden, somewhat similar lack
of up hill performance ,would be the EGR Valve.

If you never had any trans issues since the car was new,
& I don't think that is the case with the mostly under load
& up hill issues,I would change the trans fluid again, not
have it flushed, just change it & add,LUBGARD in the RED
BOTTLE,no other product or brand.

I will assume your spark plugs have been in the motor less
than 3 years or 60,000 miles

Also not really related but effects fuel trim or adjustment,is the
front O2 Sensors, the ones closest to the motor before the
converter. Change them at 100,000 miles.

Check fuel pressure with a gauge. I like to go on a road test
with the gauge taped or tied to the windshield or wiper arm.

Any kind of vacuum leak will cause a problem

Make sure the air filter cover is on correctly

How long do the clutches last in the newer vw beetles??? 100k?? 150k??

It should make it to atleast 100K with conservative shifting and a decent level of parity between highway and city miles.

I have a 2000 beetle tdi it started whining when

I'm shooting in the dark but that's what it sounds like----I think with all the pollution factory issues this should be covered by the MFG. Another is blown head gasket but that would show coolant in oil or vise versa. GL

Acceleration proplems with 97 cadallac seville

Has you Mechanic scanned the onboard computer for error codes ?
If the check engine light is on thats the first thing I would be doing , As the car knows whats wrong with itself !
I would be getting a second opinion and recommend that if you are going to do the repairs get 3 quotes.
Hope this helps.
Let me know what the codes are when you get them.
Cheers
