Easy! tahoe don't detect it if you changed your oil. it detects how many RPM you had. you just have to reset it everytime you change the oil. here's how to do it. after you changed your oil, turn on the key to ON position but don't turn the engine ON. Now, press your gas pedal all the way dow 3 times. the service light will blink and then it will stop. Now, turn your engine and the "change oil" light is gone.

Sir you haven't mention weather or not you have replace the oil filter 1st check it out.
check for the stainer inner filter it that is sticky see for weather it can be clean-up or if required change the stainer filter with the original OEM part of similar type.
see for how much kilometer or mile the vehicle has been driven for if too long distance then there are possibility of carbon settle in the engine if so then there is need for decarbonizing the engine one before doing so once it is better you show the vehicle to an authorized dealer, service center, or well known person who can help you for the problem so till then drive safely, & do a happy moroing

How to reset change oil soon light

Oil Life Monitor Resetting (KD, KE)
Description
The engine oil life monitor will indicate when to change the engine oil and the engine oil filter - usually between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 12 500 km (7,500 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the CHANGE OIL message may be displayed before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). The vehicle must not be driven more than 12 500 km (7,500 miles) or 12 months without an oil change.
The engine oil life monitor will not detect dust in the oil. If the vehicle is driven in a dusty area, be sure to change the oil every 5 000 km (3,000 miles) or sooner if the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message is displayed.
Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed.
Resetting Procedure
Press the INFORMATION SKIP button on the DIC control panel in order to display the OIL LIFE LEFT message.
Press and hold the RESET NO button until the display shows 100% ENGINE OIL LIFE.

NEED TO RESET OIL CHANGE LIGHT

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Whenever the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system.
Always reset the engine oil life to 100% after every oil change. It will not reset itself. To reset the Engine Oil Life System:
Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
Press and hold the SET/RESET button on the DIC for more than five seconds. The oil life will change to 100%.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Reset change oil light

hello, here is the instructions on how to reset the light

When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will come on. Change the engine oil as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1000 km). It is possible that, if driving under the best conditions, the oil life may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and at this time the system must be reset.
If the system is ever reset accidentally, change the engine oil at 3000 miles (5000 km) since last oil change.
To reset the Engine Oil Life System, do the following:
  1. Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
  2. Slowly fully press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
  3. The reset is complete when the chimes sound and the CHANGE OIL lamp goes out. If the lamp stays on and no chime is heard, repeat the reset procedure.
  4. Turn the key to OFF.
If the CHANGE OIL lamp comes back on when the vehicle is started, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

I have a 2005 Venture and have not been able to reset the change engine oil light. After repeatedly pressing the trip/reset button for 2 minutes the message center was still flashing change engine oil and...

Notes ENGINE OIL LIFE SYSTEM

HOW TO RESET THE ENGINE OIL LIFE SYSTEM
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a "CHANGE ENGINE OIL" message being turned on, reset the system.

  1. With the ignition key in "RUN" but the engine off, repeatedly push the trip/reset button until "OIL" is displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC).
  2. Once "OIL" is displayed, push and hold the trip/reset button for five seconds. The number will disappear and be replaced by 100 (indicating 100% oil life remaining).
  3. Turn the key to "OFF". If the "CHANGE ENGINE OIL" message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
If this does not work you may have a problem with your instrument cluster.
