Usually the easiest way is to if you have some friends come over and help you remove the bed (usually held on by 8 bolts, also dont forget to remove the bolts holding the fuel filler neck to the side of the truck bed, and trace the tailight harness from the taillights to the frame and there is a connector to unhook the them from the body) then you will have access right to the top of the fuel tank, this is also a lot easier if you have a full tank of gas

It only has 4 bolts to pull off the bed but thats if you have the buddys to lift it off and the bolt are not rusty thats the best and fastest way

Replace fuel pump

Best to do this in a well vented area because of the fire hazard, so that the gas fumes don't accumulate.
1) Disconnect battery negative cable.2) Jack up car and support on safety Jack stands3) Siphon gas out of tank4) Remove three rubber hoses on rear of tank. These are used for gas fill up; remove hose clamps and disconnect.5) Remove three hoses from front of tank; these hoses go from the fuel pump to the engine. You'll need special fuel line wrenches for this.6) Disconnect two connectors at the front of the tank.7) Remove two bolts that hold the exhaust pipe heat shield. You'll want to use penetrating oil on these; they will be corroded.8) Support tank with a floor jack. Remove the bolts which hold the tank in place. Pivot the tank on the exhaust, tilt and slide out.9) The gas hoses are taped to the tank. Remove the hoses. The fuel pump plate has about 12 screws around it. Remove the screws. Lift the plate out. The fuel pump is retained with one screw. Remove the screw. Filter is retained with a clip; remove it.10) Get your new fuel pump ($250), the rubber gasket for the fuel pump plate, and new filter ($5). Compare the pump with the old one; it must be the exact lenght. I had to go to two different auto parts stores before I got the right one.Installation is opposite of above. Good luck!Fuel pump is not too tough. First, get a Haynes or Chilton manual for reference (about $14).Best to do this outdoors, so that the gas fumes don't accumate. How do i remove the fuel pump?

To remove the fuel pump you will need to drop the fuel tank itself. Simply remove the filler hose from tank, and using a bottle jack with a block of wood on top, center jack under fuel tank near the center. You will need someone else to help with the removal if there is more than half a tank of fuel. Once the four bolts are removed. slowly lower the tank with jack and remove wires from the tank. Completely remove tank from under vehicle. Using a screwdriver and hammer, carefully tap the metal ring (or remove clips if plastic) and pull the pump straight out. When installing new pump, be certain that a new screen is purchased and attached to bottom of fuel pump assembly. Insert new assembly through top of tank and replace the retaining ring or clips. Then, in reverse order, install the fuel tank, reattaching wires before fully raising tank. Reinstall filler hose, be certain tank bolts are tight, and you are done. FYI...some fuel pump assemblies come with a new screen included. Be certain that new pump has screen included. If not, purchase screen. If the screen is not replaced, it will void the warranty on new fuel pump. Hope this helps you out.

Filter and fuel pump replacement

There are 2 straps holding the tank in place, remove the 2 nuts in front of tank and lower straps, lower tank and disconnect the harness, disconnect the gas tank filler tube, slide the tank out to a spot you can work on it, use a screw driver to use as a way to push (rotate) the lock ring in top of tank, remove the seal and be careful not to drop in the tank, while down drain and clean the tank best you can, reverse the order after installing new fuel pump. Little tip, the fuel level sensor (the long bar with flapper attached to the fuel pump) has been know to get stuck and break off while puling out of the tank. Biggest thing here is patience!! take your time, the neon is a fairly easy job, no exhaust removal is needed

How do you replace the fuel pump on a 1994 Mercury Sable Wagon ?

The fuel tank needs to be removed to replace the pump. Remove fuel from tank. The fuel filler and vent hoses need to be disconnected. The electrical connector needs to be disconnected. Unbolt tank straps(2). Lower tank down. Remove fuel lines from pump. Use a brass drift(to prevent sparks) and hammer to turn retaining ring that holds pump in tank. Install new pump with new "o" ring seal and reassemble in reverse order

1998 cheverolet c1500 bad fuel pump need to drop the fuel tank

First have as little fuel in there as possible, half a tank will be heavy, 1/4 tank is manageable. You can buy pumps at the auto parts store.
Disconnect the battery, open the filler cap. Remove the filler hose and vent tubePut a jack with a section of 2x4 under the fuel tank. Undo the strap bolts, then lower the tank enough so you can disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors.
Once tank is removed you will need a flat blade screwdriver or chisel and a hammer to remove the ring holding the fuel pump.
Remove the fuel pump then do the reverse to install (you may have to splice in a new connector).

Fuel Pump needs replacing with a full tank of gas on my '97 Chrysler Concorde

I doubt their is an access to the fuel pump threw floor board MABY in trunk the proper procedure would be this 1. Get the part 2. Disconnect neg. batt termanal 3. Drain the tank (fuel pumps like to quit on a full tank for some reason). 4. disconnect filler neck, fuel lines and wire harness (you may have to lower tank a little to get the lines and harness) 5. remove support straps 6. Lower tank 7. clean off top of tank where the pump comes out. 8. using a brass punch or something non sparking remove the lock holding pump assembly in tank. 9. carefully!! remove pump. 10. install new strainer on new pump and install. you might buy a new filter as well as most new pumps require this for warrenty on the ground with hand tools this can be done in aprox 3-4 hours!!
