Question about 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

I have this problem as well on my 2001 jetta gls.

I have a clicking noise in my dash that sounds like the blinkers or hazard lights are on. The lights are not flashing but I wonder if there is a problem with a relay switch perhaps shorting out.

My turn signals and hazard lights wont flash or turn on. already checked the fuses. what do you recommend?

check the hazard flasher it is a small round canister under the dash. its what make the ticking sound when your blinkers are on. if this is not the problem then you have a wiring problem. it may be a short in the system or a faulty flasher unit

There is a 4-way switch inside your steering column which controls the hazard lights the blinkers. If this switch is faulty your example is one thing that can happen. If the problem worsens you could lose all exterior lighting except the headlights. I had this happen to me one time.

Blinkers only work with hazard engaged

you need to replace the flasher unit which is located under the dash on the drivers side. put on the hazard flashers to make locating the unit easier (by sound)
