Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My back passenger door makes loud squealing and does not lock

I have a 2000 jeep and my back passenger door started squealing when I unlocked the doors. Now it is doing the same when I lock the doors and the door is not locking! This is obviously a huge problem since I park on the street in an urban area. There is no way to lock the door manually. It does nothing.

This is a very common problem with Jeep products. A lot of water gets onto the lock solenoid in the doors and one of two things happens, they either break off from their bracket or just stop working, the latter is easily fixed with a new lock solenoid, the for mer we dont need say anymore.......

My driver door lock is being weird. The switch will lock the jeep but it will not unlock. And also :: the passenger side window switch only works half of the time

I have the same problem and my mechanic says if he fixes it, they will break again within a year. It's your door lock actuators, they're about $100 a piece to purchase and install. the locks still work, but they are a pain in the **** to get in the car. My actuators will lock the passenger door, but won't unlock it, but my driver door will unlock automatically but will not lock unless I do it manually. I've found this is a common problem, hope it helps.

2000 Mazda 626-Rear drivers side door makes a loud squeal when the power locks, lock. When they unlock it is quiet.

Sounds like a malfunction in the lock motor. These are sealed systems so it's hard to lubricate it. I'd pull the door panel off and try to locate the noise. Might just be tracks or linkage needs some white lithium grease. If it is coming from the motor, you"ll probably have to repalce it. Could have a chipped gear or a blocked plunger.

loud buzzing noise but locks not working equals bad door lock actuator. remove door panel, locate and replace actuator.

Unlock button on passenger door doesn't work. To lock, it does work but no to unlock.

It will only lock all doors, but should only unlock passenger door.

Can I turn off the power dooor locks buy taking out a fuse? It sounds like a gear might be stripped and everytime the car turns on the door locks make a loud noise. It started off wit the front door locks...

There is a relay which locks the doors after you begin to drive. When this guy goes bad it squeals like a pig! This happened on my 2000 Concorde and we had it replaced at the shop for about $100.

Jeep alarm will not turn off

The ignition security on/off is located at the trunk lock. unlock and lock rear gate and the alarm will turn off. My jeep sat in my drive for a month before a jeep tech told me this. It still triggers the security sometimes when I unlock the passenger door with the key and I go straight to the rear gate lock and it shuts off instantly.
