What tool is needed to remove the front rotor for a 89 sidekick

i'm not sure with that vehicle, but most rotors come off after taking off the caliper bracket 2 bolts usually 15mm, if the rotor seems stuck on , hit it between the studs with a 2 lb sledge hammer. it with break it loose.

How to replace front rotor on 2005 pontiac vibe?I have removed caliper and caliper bracket do I need to remove axle nut and if so how?

once the caliper and bracket are removed, the rotors should just come off. These are hat style rotors and just slip over the hub. They do have a tendency to rust on, sometimes hitting them with a hammer between the studs will break them loose. some rotors have threaded holes between teh wheel studs that you can screw a bolt into to break them free.

How do i remove the rear rotors

Realize all that is holding them on after you take off caliper slider assembly, is rust & possibly rear emergency brake shoes, inside drum inside rotor. I always engage emergency brake 1 to 2 clicks then ride around the block. That gets rid of rust & ridge on drum. Release emergency brake.Jack up truck, remove tire. Spray around center of rear hub, near studs also, with a good penetrating oil. Then remove 2 retaining bolts that hold rear caliper slider to rear spindle, & remove slider assy & caliper. Now take good sledge hammer & whack center & outside of rotor. Sometimes it takes a bunch of good hits, then they come off.

How to take front rotor off of 2004 gmc sierra . I have caliper and rotor bracket off but still is tight.

if the caliper and bracket are off and all you have is your rotor get a sledge hammer and hit in between the bolts coming through the rotor, while you give it a smack turn the rotor and hit a different spot in between the lugs. also try spraying penetrating blaster this can help free it up. good luck

How difficult is it to cange the front rotors?

depending if you have the tools to do the job and pb blaster lock tite and white and dark grease for a beginer it has a rating of 7-8. if you work on cars and know what your doing, then its easy.. first thing is to remove the calapers then remove the calaper mounting bracket spray around the studs and bolts with pb blaster also around the hub and tap around the whole area around rotor dont hit the studs (with hammer) to break the rust buildup this should break rotor free then you may want to clean the rust off so that the rotors seat properly remove and clean new rotors with brake cleaner to get off the film off them (shipping rust retardent) and wipe. spray bolt holes to clear any rust left while removing old rotor and braket and dry. place a small ring of lock tite on bolts holding caliper brackets and let stand till harden or almost hard. replace new rotors install bracket/s and bolts (torq to ? 80foot lb) while replacing rotors replace brake pads, replacing just rotors will over heat new rotors in spots and warp rotors!!! make sure you pull the pins that retain the calipers to the bracket and add light coat of white grease to pins so calipers slides easy and evenly

How do I remove the rear brake rotors on a 2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty once the calipers and brackets are removed. I'm not sure if they just pop off of the hub and maybe the rear parking brake shoes are...

You brake shoes are probably hanging up.If you are replacing the rear rotors just take a small sledge and beat on the back of the rotor where the dust shield is exposed.

On earlier Hyundai's, the rotor is bolted to the hub. You have to remove the knuckle and press off the hub bearing to access 4 mounting bolts (I believe they're 14mm bolts) to detach the rotors from the hubs... then press the bearings back on after you've intalled the new rotors. If you're only resurfacing/remachining the rotors, it's easier to use an on-vehicle brake lathe.
