No there is no internal oil seal in the tail housing.
Maybe you damaged the seal when refitting the tailshaft.. It is easy to do.. Did you grease the seal so the tailshaft wouldn't damage it upon reinsertion?

If your trans is leaking between the motor and trans it can only be two things the front seal witch is behind the converter or the gasket on the trans pump and that is highly unlikely probly the front seal

I am hoping that when you fitted the seals the lip was facing inwards and the seals were square to the face or all the way home against the edge.

Have a bad oil leak from back of the motor

Check the rear main seal, if its coming out between engine and transmission it is time to replace. Usually this seal wont stop leaking even with seal conditioner. Depending on engine and chassis either the trans or motor will have to come out in order to replace the seal. If the seal is external than remove the trans, if a 1 piece internal than engine has to come out. Any way you look at it is a time consuming and big job.

Tranmission leak, just purchased the van it had been sitting for about 6 months, we have driven it for about 2 days and it started to leak. Dry seals?????

Probably, go to the auto parts store. They sell stop leak fluid for the transmission.
Its really best to get the van over head (ramps?) and look and see the leak and fix it properly. It could burn up the trans out away from home if your not careful.

Could be quite costly. Especially the rear main seal on the engine. You have to take the trans out to even get to it. I would look for something else with less problems to buy.

Oil leaking from rear main seal, how hard is this to change. And whats the going rate for a shop to do the repair.

Replacing the rear main seal is kind of a long one. It involves seperating the motor and trans. Depending if it is manual or auto, would weather you have to remove the flex plate (auto trans) or fly wheel (manual trans). Then of course there is removing the old seal, making sure it is free of burrs and putting the new one in, and reassembly.

Oil leak on trans and engine 94 Toyota pickup 4x4 with 22RE

best way to go about this is clean it off first and for most. you cant really tell where its coming from if the stuff oozing out likes like the rest of the motor. so start with that and go from there. honestly though any car ive ever bought used ive had to tighten everything up and most the time it stops leaking so it could very well be your problem. if it was your rear crank seal to the mess would really more over be inside your bellhousing and dripping out of your inspection cover.

There are only two paths for oil there. The rear main, and a oil galley plug a little higher up, about 2 o'clock.
