Question about 1990 Ford F150
I have a 1990 Ford F 150 with a 351 5.8L V8 Windsor Motor. The problem I have is that at low revs and idling, the truck just dies. This isnt too much of a problem at lights, I can just restart it, but it does become a problem if you are making a U-turn and there is traffic coming at you.
I have replaced the Throttle position sensor (for a high-rev/ irreguar rev issue) which made it not die as often, but it does still die.
I had the idea of replacing the fuel filter and putting fuel injector cleaner in the tank to see if that cleared it up, and I would like feedback on this idea.
But back to the original issue, if the fuel filter and injector cleaner doesnt work, I think i would have to replace the fuel pump. Where is the fuel pump exactly? Is it in the tank or next to it? Do I have to drop the tank to fix it?
Yes, fuel pump is inside the tank, replace filter first. then i would test the fuel pressure at the rail, 30 -45 psi at idle. also test pressure regulator. replace pump last (its expensive)

The fuel pump is in the tank. You will have to drop the entire tank to get to it. It will cost about $120-$145. I just replaced mine today. Hint, try not to have a full tank of gas, pain in the rear end to pour it all out and back in...

Yes I Am A Ford Guy My Self He Is Correct On What You Should Do But If You Resort To Replacing The Fuel Pump Go To A Auto Salvage Yard And Get One Second Hand And Put It In Just To See If That Is Your Problem If So Then You Should Replace Your Fuel Pump It Is Expensive That Is Why I Suggest Getting One Second Hand To See If That Is Your Problem Instead Of Wasting Your Money On A New One If That Is Not Your Problem Right?

Don't have a pic of dist
You should know where the rotor points at TDC on # 1 and match up the cap and wires no problem
