I assume you are looking for the starter solenoid. This is now part of the starter. Ford no longer has a seperate solenoid to the starter. It used to be under the hood, on the battery side, near the battery. Inrecent years, the starter solenoid became part of the starter. Mounted on top of the starter. Follow the Red battery cable, down to the starter. This will lead you directly to the solenoid.

SOURCE: how would a 2006 ford expedition run with bad gas in it

It could consist of skipping, engine cutting off or hesitates from starting, idling . Bad gas gives numerous signs, the best way I have found to deal with this is, Buy a octane booster 104, go to the gas station and put a couple of gallons of high premium in to tank to disperse the water in the gas. They also make a liquid to take water out of gas which also goes into the tank.

I have a 2006 Ford Expedition 5.4L engine and vehicle surges or shutters in overdrive only.

It can easily be the aftermarket equipment, you can call them. Since no trouble lights are on, just ask at Autozone or another good store and see what they show for a downshift solenoid and a converter lock-up solenoid and where they are located.

Another great source, keeping in mind that an Expedition is similar to an F150, are the Blogs. I believe a site like F150Owners.com or F150OwnersBlog.com have many owners using the same performance equipment you have. Some 4x4 sites are heavy into aftermarket modifications.

Also have your engine checked for "Camshaft Phasers" which can cause "bucking" under different engine loads. There was a Recall about these parts. In short, each engine head has a Camshaft. It is a variable timing camshaft. When 1 side does not match the other, there are problems.

I hope my solution is helpful.

Location of Shift Solenoid in 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer?

They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.

I have a fail code (P1409) on my 1998 FOrd Expedition, 4.6L. Where can I get this part? Thanks, Alec

Code indicates bad EGR Vacuum Solenoid. Chilton lists possible causes below. Here's a link to the part you want. Best of luck!

Possible Causes:
  • EGR VR solenoid circuit is open, or shorted to ground
  • EGR VR circuit is shorted to power or the VPWR circuit is open
  • EGR vacuum regulator solenoid is damaged or the PCM has failed

Gas overflows when fillingtank.

Sounds like you might have a breather hose that is pinched.
